A year or so ago, I promised this forum I would upload pics of the
parasites I accidentally cultured in my garage.
Here is the story.
I was drinking raw goat's milk from a local farmer. Typically I would ferment the milk to raw yogurt, but since goat's yogurt is quite thin, I would strain some of the whey. Then I would keep the whey in jars in my garage for other various uses.
Well, winter came and went and I the whey was just sitting in the jars, being unused.
When I finally went out to get clean it out, I found this one jar with three adult parasites. One fluke and two unidentified parasites. Also, some black stuff, parasitic, on the sides of the jar.
They have been in there for at least 18 months. Living on one small jar, maybe 12
ounces of whey. This leads me to believe that their waste produces a somewhat symbiotic relationship.
The fluke was of interest to me, as it very much resembled a little red jelly fish, swimming in water. Dead, it would have very much resembled a tomato skin as it had a red "back" and a clear underbelly, that was very soft.
Last year, someone on the forum asked me to experiment to discover which products would kill them, but to be honest, I felt very vulnerable handling them at all. I was very grossed out by the idea that some of their eggs could get on my skin!
Nevertheless, here are the photos for anyone who doubts that the "tomato skins" in the toilet are flukes!
