Oil Pulling Therapy by Dr. Bruce Fife (No relation to Barney, I hope!) Someone on this forum recommended it.
I bought the Kindle edition for $9.95. Well worth it, IMO.
I just started pulling with coconut oil twice per day 2 days ago and packing the gum area above an abcess on tooth #10 with bentonite clay. Just had a cleaning and x-ray less than 2 weeks ago and my dentist referred me to an endodontist for a root canal -- I thought I merely had a contact issue, but she showed me the abcess on the x-ray. I DID have a contact issue; the abcess was pushing the tooth down (it's an upper tooth) and causing heavy contact with the tooth below.
I've been rubbing magnesium oil into the gum a few times per day since the visit with the dentist, and it helped a little. After 2 days of oil pulling and clay the contact is gone and most of the pain is gone. I still have minor tenderness if I grab the tooth and wiggle it. My appointment with the endodontist is for Feb. 7th, but I'll cancel it next week if I reach the point where there is no tenderness.
Hopefully somebody with a bit more knowledge will chime in here -- I'm too much of a newbie to offer advice, but I'm willing to share my experience.

I eliminated UC by doing a extended distilled water fast [10+days] 3 times. It returned because I didn't change my diet. Guessing it's been about 5 years since last. It is caused by something you are consuming that your immune system can't tolerate.
By not eating anything, and flushing with the water, you eliminate the cause
BTW, this isn't any protocol that I know of, I just reasoned that if the immune system was involved and was irritated by what I was consuming that fasting would help.
Surely beats the meds the AMA prescribes for it.
