well, you raise a few points that i can address.
"So I tried Iodoral. It had a bad effect on me. Then I found out it has corn in it! I doubt it's non
Genetically-Modified-Organisms corn since they don't make that claim."
looking at the ingredients on a bottle of iodoral i can see the fractionated vegetable products in it. iodoral is a substitute for lugols, imho. lugols(or its equivalent) in liquid form has its problems and iodoral was formulated to address some of those problems. its not the very best
Iodine supplement but its a million miles ahead of taking none at all, which kelp borders on.
"Then I tried Lugol's. It gave me the runny nose they talk about, for days, but really I didn't feel much better."
this is where we must be our own parent and not let the "dumb flesh", as paul bragg called it, rule us.
first principle: the stronger your initial reaction to iodine, the more it is indicated. if you get a runny nose from iodine, youre full of mucus. if you keep filling, then youre going to keep draining. change your diet or carry a hanky.
the second point is about interpretation of the effects of iodine. everyone is different.
Iodine supplementation is NOT a treatment of symptoms. it is a necessary nutrient that one needs daily regardless of any effects or lack thereof. if you can feel a hormone locking into a single receptor then you can judge its effects by how you feel. if you can trace an enzymatic pathway and see it has been shortened due to increased iodine(saving energy) just by your own perception then you can quickly gauge the benefits of the iodine. but these things cant be done so there is no "ah-ha" moment of knowing
Iodine is helping. if there is, it is temporary. the body adjust to the new normal.
if a person desires kelp, go for it, as long as due diligence is performed and personal responsibility is assumed. this is, however, a constant battle.
iodine supplementation has a multitude of benefits IF one takes at least 100mg a day. this forum counts the ways. thats why its so big. eating kelp and working to lower that amount is a fools game. thats my opinion and i am sticking with it.
i would like to see citingsources address this ingredient question about iodoral. something one takes daily should never contain gmo and should state as much on the label.
