Are you referring to nutribiotic? The tablets are processed junk compared to the drops. I remember chewing up a tablet and could barely taste the GSE. The drops are much stronger. In the past i've put some drops in a empty gelatin capsule/you can mix it with olive oil. Source naturals is a good brand and their GSE is in a bottle...so no plastic leaching.
Interesting that you stated that GSE might have a added preservative. I just checked out Wikipedia on GSE and it was talking about a lot of GSE products being contaminated with a synthetic preservative it in. Wikipedia was stating that natural GSE might have no detectable anti-microbial effects at all. The anti-microbial effects might be more related to the synthetic preservative in the GSE. So there might be some question of this synthetic preservative having the ability to inhibit the efficiency of our friendly bacteria as well? Not to mention how a synthetic preservative could affect someones health in the long run.
So maybe the main benefits that your receiving from "natural" GSE is just the nutrients in it( vitamin C, bioflavs etcc), not necessarily the anti-microbial activity. That just makes me wonder about a lot of cross contamination of chemicals that could be in other products that have active ingredients as well. One thing I learned working as a Vitamin Manager is that some companies can use harsh chemicals when extracting the active ingredients from plants/or just processing in general ...hexane etc....
So this requires further investigation of calling up some of these companies and trying to find out if there is this synthetic preservative in the product or not. The problem with some of these companies is that they will not disclose all the information that you want to know. Sometimes they will say its proprietary information. Proprietary meaning that they will CTA (cover their A**).
I like how citricidal says that one tablet is equal to 4 drops. Is this before they processed it or after they processed it. The product might not be equivalent to four drops by the time the tablet has been compressed, processed and all the binders and fillers have been added to affect its absorption. Some tablets can contain vegetable coating/lubricant, which may contain some petroleum derivatives in it. Ever wonder how some of those tablets get nice and shiny....

Do you think your experiencing die off or just experiencing the side effects of the preservative/chemicals in the GSE. Is there really anything in GSE that would cause cell membrane leakage(Die-off). Sounds like GSE acts as a inhibitor rather than causing cell membrane leakage. Its possible You might being experiencing an inflammation response from some of the chemicals in GSE?
Its interesting how much more bitter the drops are than the tablets. I could easily chew up one tablet without gagging. 10- 12 drops would be so bitter I could not tolerate it. So it raises a question of their processing methods. I've tested out some pomegranate extracts where some capsules actually tasted and looked like pomegranate and others tasted and looked like processed dirt. Some comapanies process the hell out of their herbs that you don't taste much of the active ingredients. Another example is echinacea: I've tasted some echinacea that will make your tongue num. Others tasted highly processed. Its interesting how certain active ingredients of herbs can have unique taste or sensation of the tongue.
Anyways, I hope GSE helps. Keep us posted with your long term results.
