If your system is using up resources to make cortisol, then other hormones, like aldosterone, may be deprived (
"cortisol shunt"). The theory I've been working with lately is that licorice, by slowing the breakdown of cortisol, eases the production effort, so there are more resources left for building other hormones.

Also, methylation is involved in many body processes. Eat foods that support methylation. Eggs, yogurt, onions are great.
Also, cholesterol is an important building block for hormones. I would recommend having a good dietary intake of cholesterol. Eggs.
