There are many different ways to deal with PTSD and we will find one that works for us but may not work for others.
Here is a physical way of trauma/PTSD release which is used by the New York City 9/11 first responders to this day:

Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE): A revolutionary new method for stress/trauma recovery by David Berceli
I would suggest searching the Internet to see if you can find the methodology or go to your library - Berceli has other books and a DVD so the library should have something on him. I find his books packed with loads of filler and little on the technique - like so many self help books, but I have benefited some from his TRE.
I have "counseled" for childhood PTSD (which I find much more difficult to deal with than my front line combat experiences, and nobody really understands this) and have found it kind of a waste of time. My first line of attack on PTSD has been to meditate for an hour or more each day, which I have done and continue to do for more than thirty years. As part of my meditation journey I uncovered layers of pain and then when the "love of my life" (or so I thought) left me I went into PTSD. Couldn't sleep more than a half an hour at a time without being awakened by terrifying night mares and reliving experiences from early childhood. Became suicidal. Sought help and my health care insurance sent me to a guy that hadn't discovered the fog in his space yet but I endured weekly for six months before recognizing the guy was a fake. It was my meditation that eventually got me through. Each person is going to pick their own way through this debilitating terror.
Here's the site of a woman who cured her PTSD and many other ills (she was imprisoned for her "mental illness" at about age 16) through meditation - often ten and twelve hours a day.

That is just one of her many web sites and you can do a search for others. I have just bought her book but haven't gotten to it but have followed her experiences on-line for several years.
Best to you in your quest.
