Seriously like don't wanna live like this anymore...and I'm really scared to try that stuff because I don't know if it'll work for me, and I really want it to...I'm just sick of seeing the skin come off and build up..then come off again, and build up yet another time. I mean yeah it's not as bad as it used to be, but it should be better by now...
Anyways, I would have tried this in a heart beat six months ago...I just don't wanna try something and it set me back with all this embarrassment and trouble I've went through. I'm going to my doctor next week and going to ask her about this and see what she thinks, maybe there is a pill that perhaps might at least help? I just don't really know what to do at the moment.
I'm really glad we have some other ideas to look into though. What all should I ask the doctor to check? And I know there are several different creams that have been listed, I should probably write them all down...

Daniel, PLEASE ask your doctor about oral care products and allergic dermatitis. Even if you aren't allergic to something initially, you can still develop an allergy my doctor assured me (he's a top specialist in one of the best hospitals in my city). I've been seeing a reduction in inflammation, pain, and overall peeling since I eliminated the products about a month ago and started using Protopic twice a day with vaseline in between when I need it. I think in our case the most obvious answer might actually be the truth. I really don't think this is HPV. You can test for it, but if you've never had a cold sore, I really doubt it.Advertisement

What are you basing your statement, "I really don't think this is HPV", on? If you have some sort of insighta or extensive kniwledge about HPV then please share with us. But some how I have a feeling that you are kind of just saying it.

This is a reply to # 1,984,113I didn't use toothpaste or anything in the shower except water for a few months, maybe even longer. The only thing I use now is organic shower gel, and this completely natural toothpaste I got from whole foods about once a week.
So unless my contact dermatitis is actually in the water I am using, then I have ruled everything out...The only left to rule out would be my laundry detergent, which I have decided to do when I run out of the one I'm using at the moment and buy organic or natural whatever it is at whole foods...but my clothes don't even touch my lips...so I'm kind of doubtful on that.
And vaseline made it worse for me when I was using it.
This method was truly my last resort option as I tried everything in the world I can think of...the virus/wart treatment I had never thought of nor tested for...so it's down to two different possibilities again until we come up with something else...Advertisement

Oh yeah and there was something I remembered yesterday that I wanted to mention on here. About 5 years ago I had a few small red bumps in my genital region, the doctor said it was herpes...I got them frozen off and she gave me a pill for two weeks...they have never come back or bothered me since. This is a reply to # 1,984,123I got acyclovir mixed up with aldara since they are both used for herpes. A dermatologist told me to use acyclovir, not aldara to bring back color on hypopigmented skin.

This is a reply to # 1,984,113I'm basing the statement off of the fact that this doesn't look like HPV of the mouth...The odds that we all have HPV are very slim. Healing, why don't you go get tested for HPV? If you're thinking about using a cream for HPV on your lips without testing for HPV you're nuts...oh no offense

I am planning to get tested for HPV, but will probably want to try it anyways because I've read about it treating rare Lichen Planus of the lips, which is also a great possibility.
And how did I know you were going to take offense to that comment? I can't say anything on this forum without people getting offended, it's ridiculous.
And how many times have you come across HPV of the mouth again? Or are you basing that off of google images? I mean it can clearly look like this considering Lilo was tested and diagnosed by a doctor.
And why again is it such a slim chance that we all have HPV? HPV is more common than you obviously think. And this condition is a lot more UNcommon than you obviously think.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 1,984,154I have heard that viruses can cause chapped lips. If not HPV, maybe another virus can cause this. The cream also works on lichen planus and actinic cheilitis. It is a good idea to get tested just so you know which condition the cream treated.

Healing, I'm not about to start an argument with someone on some forum on the internet, but your post says it all. " RARE lichen planus is a GREAT possibility" How could something RARE be a great possibility? And Lilo CLEARLY said she had cold sores, a rather obvious manifestation of HPV. Furthermore, you can't justify that this kind of medication, one which clearly has strong side effects, is worth the risk just because it worked for one person...I have nothing against you personally and I truly hope you get cured, but your posts do have the tendency to come off pretty condescending.
