the word "sin" is a greek word meaning "to miss the mark" its an archery term.
the good news is that all sin is forgiven. so instead of us wasting time in the futile venture of trying to hide our sin we can concentrate on correcting our sin. you know, obeying instead of having to do penance. the alter was called the lion of god because it was having to eat so much flesh due to the peoples continuous sinning and literally just throwing god a bone for it instead of changing.
i dont have the reference handy but one definition of sin is in the new testament - to know to do right and not to do it; to him that is sin.
and see james. gotta do, do, doodly doodly do.
be well.

It's great to see you posting on this forum, Trapper. Thanks for posting all of those wonderful Bible verses. :) We can't go wrong with those. I love it and I love the verses that you posted for they do tell me how to receive the free gift of God and become saved. This post is great, however, there is a statement in your first post, which I took the liberty to copy and paste into this post, that did concern me. The statement referred to all sin being forgiven. That statement, I felt, could lead the reader to believe that all sin of all times for all people is forgiven. I believe that the Bible is clear that if you do not receive what Christ did (paying the penalty for us - God's gift), that your sins are not forgiven and you will pay the penalty yourself via eternal death. I do agree with you that Jesus did die for the sins of the whole world past, present, and future. This was God's gift to the whole world. The problem is most people are rejecting this gift and it will never be theirs. Therefore, they will experience eternal death. The few who except this gift will experience eternal life.

asking god for forgiveness is unbelief

This statement from your second post I do not agree with, however, It doesn't concern me as much as your first statement that I referred to.
To explain I will quote a little scripture myself.
"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."
Matthew 6: 9-12 KJV
Thanks for posting. I enjoyed the chat.
