I took the Great Plains Lab conprehensive stool analysis and got the results.
I was wondering if someone here can help me understand them.
Bacteriology:
expected/beneficial flora-
4+ bacteroides gragilis group
4+ bifidobacterium spp.
3+ escherichia coli.
lactobacillus- no growth
enterococcus -no growth
2+ clostridium spp.
imbalanced flora-
1+ alpha hemolytic strep
2+ enterobacter cloacae
2+ gamma hemolytic strep
1+ staphylococcus aureus
dysbiotic flora-
3+ citrobacter freundii
Does anyone knows what the numbers on the sides mean(1+,2+)?,and does the bacteria under the beneficial flora list means that these bacteria supposed to be in the intestine?
also, my test showed no yeast isolated and no ova or parasites.
I would really appreciate any help with this bacteria list.

This is a reply to # 1,931,090I am not familiar with this company's lab report but +1 lower count +4 highest count
If you are looking for pathogenic organisms this lab may not be beneficial for that - IBS is most likely caused by pathogens in the gut which can range from protozoa parasites to rogue bacteria to yeast or other parasites. - Re: comprehensive stool analysis maskedhombre

This is a reply to # 1,931,090You have an dysbiosis.
That means that you need to replenish your beneficial flora.
Focus on fermented foods (home made) like kefir, yogurt, raw sauerkraut, kombucha, etc.
You can also use probiotic pills, but in addition to the fermented foods.
Take also some L-Glutamine (up to 10g a day) to help heal the gut.- Re: comprehensive stool analysis pinkcat

This is a reply to # 1,933,066Glad i saw this thread. I'm doing the same thing in the next few days & hope to get answers in 3 weeks.
My kit has 3 bottles that list Ova and parasites on the label. I think another is for transit time. and the final is again for parasites (three days of samples, 5 vials).
It's interesting that parasites are responsible for IBS (as an above poster said). I thought it was something mysterious, so much so that even docs didn't know.
I look forward to my results... hopefully there will be something I can do.
