Hello Linda,
It all comes down to PH.
When you add an acid to sodium chlorite you end up with chlorous acid. This has a PH of around 3. Acids can damage your teeth.
My suggestion is to mix up a batch of both. An excellent mouthwash is made from adding 3.8 ml of
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement to 500 ml of water. This does not form an acid and becomes activated by the acid in your mouth.
While excellent for routine use, if you have an existing infection you may need to use an activated solution. The chlorine dioxide in the solution can quickly knock down the infection. However, you need to rinse after using to get rid of the acid.
If your deep pockets are infected, try the activated mixture for a few days taking care to rinse after using.
If your pockets are not infected, use the unactivated solution.
To use you first brush your teeth and rinse. Then you take a mouthful of the mouthwash and swish for 30 - 60 seconds, with 60 seconds being better. After swishing spit it out and do not rinse, drink, or eat anything for 10 - 15 minutes after. Then you can go on with your normal routine.
Using this 2 - 3 times a day will result in a healthy mouth.
