Hi all - I want to know if there are any others out there who are edging nearer to a positive MS diagnosis (having had lesions found through MRI) and have made a link with their Mirena.
I was a completely healthy 25yo with 2 young children. Suddnely after about 3-4 months of having the Mirena the numbness/tingling in my fingers began - I found the posts and had the Mirena removed asap. Now 3.5 months on the tingling has not let up and I have had periods of extreme fatigue and anxiety (VERY unusual for me). An MRI 2 months ago showed MS-like lesions in my brain, which 3 neurologists have said means it is between 70-90% likely to be my first MS attack. I'm waiting to have another MRI in december to see if there are any new lesions, and thus confirm diagnosis.
Does the Mirena trigger MS?? Or from all the posts about numbness is it just the Mirena causing all this and I should soon recover??? Anyone in the same situation??

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,884,022I'm not sure if the Mirena triggers MS or not, but just KNOW that you are not alone in your symptoms. ALL of us on here have had those symptoms. I just had an MRI Saturday. I am waiting for the results. My symptoms are way better. Just to encourage you, I don't know of any of these girls who have had these symptoms who have had a positive diagnosis of MS. It's just that the symptoms mirror those of MS so closely that neurologists THINK that it is. Keep us posted. You're in our prayers!

This is a reply to # 1,884,035If both of you please would let me know what you find out I would really appreciate it. . .my MRI last Dec. said 30-40 tiny lesions not in a pattern typical of MS but it can't be ruled out. . .could be vasculitis, inflammation, or chronic ischemic something or other (to do with blood vessels.) In Jan. I had another, but the lesions didn't enhance, meaning they weren't active at that time. The neuro. said he didn't think I have MS, and that even migraines could make lesions like that. Eventually I'll probably get a second opinion, but like many ladies here have spent 1000's and 1000's of dollars and don't have an answer.
It seems that so many things mimic each other. MS, Lyme's disease, Mirena, mold exposure, silicone poisoning, hormonal imbalance. . .so confusing and frustrating.

This is a reply to # 1,884,035I have been experiencing a lot of the MS Symptoms and was told that I have trigeminal neuralgia, but could possibly be MS!!! I had it removed because my health kept getting worse and worse!

Ifound this forum after I started experience M.S like symptoms and my husband came across a link of IUDs and ms like symptoms. I have 17 sypmtoms of ms. I have a lot of numbness and tingling in both legs as well as arms , my legs feel like jello, I have muscle spasms, feel dizzy, cant focus, problems walking, I have tremors, weakness, eye discomfort, depression, fatigue and those are just the main symptoms. I am going to get my IUD taken out asap, but I am wondering, does anyone have or know of any findings that the IUD / silicone poisoning causes actual Multiple sclerosis? I am scared and hoping that all these will go away eventually after mine is removed but some of your posts makes me think that it may have caused it. I cannot seem to find any evidence saying it can cause it but I am not sure what to think! help!

I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if you had any updates. I was diagnosis with MS after having Mirena. I had a brain lesion and they want to start me on medications in the next couple of weeks. Did your symptoms get better?
