I had a huge (17 vial) blood and urine test done and need some input. The old blood tests done in Oct and Nov 2011 were BEFORE HCLFRV (I was eating a high-pro/fat, low-carb anti-candida diet for years)... I went HCLFRV on Thanksgiving 2011. This recent blood test was taken last week (Jan 2012).
1. My urine pH was extremely alkaline at 8.5!! The normal range is 5-8. Three months ago (before this diet when I was on a high protein, anti-candida diet), my urine was 5.0). I can't believe i'm TOO alkaline now. What should I do to get it in a normal range and why is my urine overly alkaline?
2. My urine also had some protein excreted (+1). This is never a good sign. Can u explain what this means and how to correct it?
3. My other labs showed pre-diabetes and poor pancreatic function (A1C was 5.4, but in October, it was 5.6....IGF Binding Protein-1 was 33....C-peptide was 0.82.....but my fasting glucose was normal at 77). Is my poor pancreatic function due to over 10 years dependence on digestive enzymes, which made my pancreas lazy?(plant/animal/microbial enzymes, pancreatin, HCl)??
4. My BUN was very low (5)... two months ago, is was High at 28...in Oct is was VERY high at 34. Is my BUN now TOO low?
5. My bilirubin was high at 1.5 (range is 0.2-1.2). What caused this and how can I correct this? Two months ago, it was 0.6.
6. I have some kind of anemia, but it is NOT due to B12, Folate, or Iron, which were all fine. My RBCs were Low at 3.3 (3.8-5.1)
Hemoglobin was Low at 11 (11.7-15.5)
Hematocrit was Low at 31.9 (35-45)
MCH was High at 33.2 (27-33)
My DC thinks there is an issue with my marrow making RCBs, but he wasnt sure. Any thoughts?
7. Amino Acids: Most were good, except for these:
-Alpha Amino Adipic Acid: High at 3 (< or = to 2)
-Alpha Amino Butyric Acid: Low at 5 (7-32)
-Arginine: Low at 28 (43-407)
-Alanine: High at 507 (200-483)
Any thoughts?
8. B12 was extremely high at >2000 (200-1100), thus I am cutting back on my shots to 1 time per week or less
9. Vit D was low, so I will begin my supplement of that again
10. THYROID: My T3 was still low (67, when the range is 76-181). Would using
Lugol's be a good idea? If so, how?
11. My cholesterol finally went down. In Nov, it was extremely high at 273!!! But, now it is too LOW at 113 (range 125-200). How can I get this to a healthy range?? Too little cholesterol can be just as bad as too much!
12. My DC also thought I have Hereditary Corporphyrin, but the test didn't seem to show it, even though he felt it did. My blood value came at 0.8, when the normal range is 0.8 or less. Plus, it is mostly DX'd with urine/stool and my urine didnt show any.
My DC thinks that taking Chromium, Zinc, and Selenium supplements would help booster my pancreas to help it make enzymes. Do u think this will help?
I will continue to take my probiotics and grapefruit seed extract (to kill my infections). Is the alkaline urine pH contributing to a "good environment" for my gut infections to flourish?
My DC also feels that adding Hemp Protein Powder will help correct the amino acid profile, cholesterol, pancreas, and other imbalances. He wanted me to add in meat to make my body more acidic, but I refused! But, how can I normalize my pH?
All the other values were good (CBC, CMP...),but my main concerns are my Urine values (pH, protein secretion), pancreas/enzymes, Thyroid, low cholesterol and BUN, high bilirubin, and abnormal RCB values. Any help would be awesome!
I also dont know what dosages to take of:
-Selenium (I dont want to eat brazil nuts due to the fat and my gut infections...I need to remain overt-free until they clear. Plus, I'll be getting dietary fat from the hemp pro powder)
-Zinc (15mcg? or more? What form?)
-Chromium (and what form and brand?)
-Lugol's
Iodine (what strength: 2 or 5%? How do I take this? How much? is there a loading dose and maintenance dose?)
Remember, I'm a really tiny person, so that makes it hard for me to figure out the correct dose.... but I'm also very deficient, so it's a conundrum for sure!
