For future reference (tincturing):
When we're dealing with dried roots (tough, sinewy and very difficult to macerate), whether it's sold as "cut" or "whole" can make a difference.
When we're dealing with dried leaves, flowers and 'above ground' plant parts, it doesn't really matter whether or not they're pre-cut or whole. You can generally just crush them in your hand if you want them in smaller pieces to put into the tincturing jar.
