Hey all,
I've known something has been wrong with me for awhile as I've had progressive physical and mental deficiency for almost two years now, so after seeing a functional medicine MD for the first time last week I now have a potential answer: Candida. My symptoms have gotten so bad that I couldn't even stand to stay in school (I'm 23, supposed to be prepping for grad school) due to what basically feels like a learning disability (inability to concentrate, remember, focus, have energy, and see clearly; general brain fog). I also have regular muscle aches and weakness in my limbs, constant fatigue, coated tongue, and IBS, starting when I took an absurd amount of
Antibiotics over a long period of time. I realize that this issue has probably caused me a fair amount of
Depression and anxiety and possible adrenal fatigue as well.
I was actually on the diet a of couple weeks before my appointment because I got a tip from a loved one, and my doctor started me on Nystatin right away. In the first two days of taking Nystatin I had a few amazing experiences where I felt incredible. My vision and head cleared up, my body felt great, and I felt functional and happy again. I'm not sure if this was the placebo effect from being given some hope or if the initial introduction of the antifungal had an impact, but whatever happened it felt like I was really close to my old self. Unfortunately, this didn't last. After those first few days I felt awful again and my body aches seem to have worsened. Back to feeling incapacitated. Does this seem normal for beginning treatment?
Also, I am taking a break from my life to address this issue, as I can barely function normally anyway, and was wondering if anyone in the Portland, OR area is also struggling with this or a similar chronic condition and would like to meet up or just share support. Please email me.
