Hi Greg - This is a very tricky area, and I did lots of cleansing while I was recovering from my severe case of AF. Everything you've said about cleansing and adrenals is correct, and it was a very tricky balancing act for me for many years.
Do you eat a healthy, high-fiber diet? If not, that's the best way to begin a cleansing program. Have you done any colon cleansing? That's the next step, after healthy diet. The former won't put any strain on your adrenals, and the latter puts a very mild strain on them for a short time. Kidney cleansing is a good next step, and it won't affect your adrenals much.
Liver cleaning, however, is another matter entirely. It does one a lot of good in the long run (including reducing the load on one's adrenals) but can stress the adrenals big time. After you've done the cleanses I mentioned earlier, you might want to start by taking small amounts of milk thistle. It will tone your liver, and improve it's detox functioning. If your liver starts releasing toxins too quickly, you can cut down on the amount of milk thistle you are taking. You can also stop it for a while if necessary, then restart when your adrenals are stronger.
In my case, I didn't do a
Liver Flush until after I'd been taking the milk thistle for many years. I don't know if it would be a wise idea for you to do a
Liver Flush in the near future, and don't know who would be a good person to ask about that. )-: I hope this helps.
