The reality is that if it's a severe fecal impaction cleansing enemas may not be sufficient to relieve it. Especially when using plain water or salt solution.
My preferred solution would be to have a
colonic or series of
colonics ASAP! You need someone who is trained and experienced in removing an impaction. It's often quite tricky, because if you have been taking enemas the contents of the upper parts of the colon (transverse and ascending) may be being washed out and much of that waste escaping around the impacted ball of stool in the rectum that just won't pass.
If you try to digitally remove it it may just move around without being broken up. Don't strain by using your rectal muscles especially if you are elderly or have high blood pressure.
In the meantime, I would suggest going to the drugstore and buying 2 Fleet mineral oil disposable enema units. Lie down in any position and take both, one after the other and try to retain at least one or two hours.
This may help soften the impaction and help it to pass when expelling. If not, try a 2
quart warm soapsuds solution using castile soap or a mild bar soap such as Ivory.
If you can't get in for a
colonic within a day or so then the emergency room or a 24 hr walk-in emergency center may be the only alternative.
If you haven't passed this impaction by the time you read this do not let it go much longer. It will only get worse.
