So some of you may already know me on here, but Im lost at what to do now.. Ive been to a bunch of docs who wont listen to me or believe me, and yes i know a lot of people here are dealing with the same... I know for sure I have some sort of parasite problem I just dont know exactly what one!!
My guess is either some kind of roundworm or tapeworm.
My symptoms
Weight loss 15-20 lbs from diaherra over a month or two.
-
my eyes have floaters and more senstive to light,yellowish tint to them and sometimes blurred vision
-Grinded my teeth alot when i first got sick, now they are in bad shape (Im only 26 yrs old)
-Stomach make strange noises all the time
-cant seem to gain my weight back
The docs ahve given me a few stool tests all negative.. but i think my problem is systematic,whcih they dont believe me, I even have a thing in my eye that looks like a mini candy cane!! They refuse to help me and just decided to give me anti-anxeity meds which I have never took before, and i refuse to take them.
I been to two big university hosppitals in my state, but havent left the state yet for help.
Also when I got sick I was working at a public pool at a low-income HUGE apartment building in the city. And right before i got sick (about 3-4 hours) I ate a big meat combo grinder from a public market.
Any suggestion at what my next step should be?? THANKS!!

This is a reply to # 1,827,939Tapeworms and roundworms don't cause diarrhea. If anything, they tend to cause constipation. Diarrhea is likely from a bacterial infection,a viral infection, an amebic infection, or something like giardia or crypto. or it could be from a food allergy (perhaps lactose? or perhaps something else?), or a digestive disorder(way too much bile produced?)
Grinding of teeth is associated with parasite infection, but could be just from stress.
Something in your eye is a serious matter. If you think you have a parasite in your eye, then see an opthalmologist asap, as this could be very dangerous.
Do you have anemia? Even a vitamin B12 deficiency could cause diarrhea. Are you a vegetarian? Do you take vitamin supplements? Do you eat any strange foods? Are you careful to keep perishable food properly refrigerated and not leave it out a long time? If you bring your lunch to work, do you keep it refrigerated? Is your sense of smell okay, so you could smell spoiled food? If you drink tap water, then perhaps you should switch to bottled water. There may be pathogens in your water that you are sensitive to. Some people are much more sensitive to certain pathogens than others, and what is making you sick might not be making the rest of your family sick.

LOOK for yourself!! Thanks for the info and help but realize that when a normal healthy strong young man like me gets infected with roudworm or tapeworm, diaherra is one of the main symptoms along with weightloss because of it...- Re: Advice on what to do next?? :( J649

This is a reply to # 1,828,094I had an Ascaris(roundworm) infection a few years ago and it caused me great constipation, and never any diarrhea. I have not heard others say they had diarrhea with it, just constipation. I guess it might theoretically be possible to have diarrhea with it, however it doesn't seem to be common. The shortness of breath is very common with it. So is the nausea and abdominal pain. If you never had shortness of breath, then it is unlikely that it is ascaris.
Amebas, giardia, and crypto cause diarrhea almost all the time. Bacteria and viruses often cause diarrhea.- Re: Advice on what to do next?? :( seek2clean

when I first got infected with whatever I have i did have shortness of breath along with a annoying cough, that stayed wiht me for few weeks..whatever it is def went to my lungs at one point..anything that attacks your immune system can cause diaherra and like 90% of your immune is in your GI tract...- Re: Advice on what to do next?? :( jazzydude

This is a reply to # 1,828,214Giardia, Amoeba, Blastocystis hominis etc.. are microscopic and are considered parasites. Those things can cause diarrhea. Its also possible one can have more then one type of parasite.
In my experience, lab tests are very unreliable and false negatives are common. Which labs have you tried? I'm trying to figure out which labs are better.
I found some places to buy parasite tests online.

This is a reply to # 1,828,430Why would you say that lab tests are unreliable? Are you referring to stool, or blood? or both? The people that work in those labs are trained to find microorganisms inside your body. id say thats a good reason to trust them.

You have a lot to learn. False negatives are parr for the course. If you live in N. America it is mistakenly believed that parasites are not a problem here....that they are a third world disease. For that reason, the lab techs are not very trained in looking for and identifying small protozoa. Then there are some protozoa that look very much like similiar ones that are thought to be harmless and are often confused.
I also heard that even if they see one parasite they conclude that as negative. They have to find a certain number within a certain amount of specimen to conclude a positive result. How crazy is that? All you need is one to infect you.
So a negative result does not mean no parasites. The only result that is almost certain...is a positive one.Advertisement
