The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has selected 78 new charitable initiatives in 18 countries, it announced Monday.
Each of the 78 causes will receive $100,000 in the most recent round of Grand Challenges Explorations. The money, which will fund research projects, will tackle issues such as strategic placement of insect-eating plants to reduce insect-borne diseases, inexpensive Cell Phone microscopes to diagnose malaria, and the relationship of nano-particles to vaccines.

Nano- and microparticles have long been used for the delivery of drugs and are currently being evaluated as vaccine delivery systems. Particulates can elicit potent immune responses, either by direct immuno-stimulation of antigen presenting cells (APC) or/and by delivering antigen to specific cellular compartments and promoting antigen uptake by appropriate stimulatory cell types. Herein, we describe a detailed method for the preparation of a novel nanoparticle-based antigen delivery system which induces strong cellular and humoral immune responses in mice and sheep. This simple system is based on the use of 40 nanometer (nm) inert solid carrier beads to which antigen is covalently coupled before injection. Covalent conjugation of antigen to the nanobeads, assessment of conjugation efficiency, characterisation and measurement of in vivo immunogenicity by cytokine ELISPOT (to measure antigen-specific T-cell responses) and ELISA (to measure antibody titers), are described. Emphasis is placed on providing trouble-shooting advice to enable the reproducible production of soluble nano-size formulations that do not suffer from common problems such as aggregation, as well as understanding the causes and thus avoiding a range of prevalent technical problems that occur when using immune response detection assays, such as the cytokine ELISPOT assay and ELISA.

The fact that WHO, the European Medicines Evaluation Agency, the German Robert Koch Institute and other health bodies today would permit the population to be injected with largely untested novel vaccines containing nanoparticles says more about the powerful pharma lobby in Euiropean politics than it does about the sanity or moral integrity of the civil servants responsible for health of the general public.
The September 2009 issue of the respected European Respiratory Journal, made public on 19 August, and available since 21 August online, contains a peer-reviewed article with the title, “Exposure to nanoparticles is related to pleural effusion, pulmonary fibrosis and granuloma.”
The article describes tests carried out in 2008 at the elite Beijing Chaoyang Hospital on seven young women. All seven, ages 18-47 had been exposed to nanoparticles for 5–13 months in their common workplace. All were admitted to the hospital with shortness of breath and pleural effusions, or excessive fluids surrounding the lungs, inhibiting breathing. None of the seven had ever smoked and none were in any special risk group. Doctors carefully tested for every possibility and confirmed that the lung problems had a common origin—regular inhalation of nanoparticles in their factory. They had been exposed to Polyacrylat nanoparticles.
The tests confirmed the nanoparticles had set off a “super-meltdown” reaction in the patients. Despite all heroic efforts of doctors, two of the seven died from the lung complications. 2

Bill Gates might try to help some kids living in a Third World Country......... who have no access to the internet, reliable food sources (think drought people!), any type of medicine, hand-holding government services or safety nets......
And God forbid actual clean water. And no. I don't consider sewage laced water as being clean............
But he is part of the NWO trying to keep us down. Shucks. And I always thought that dirt poor Africans had access to organic food and supplements and high speed internet and medical trauma services and water that didn't have sewage possibly in it. And the best health care. But BG is part of a handful of hidden people that no one has ever seen......And they are trying to keep us down.

Oh, of that I have absolutely no doubt. Gates, who has unscrupulously beaten down and gobbled up his competition on the way up, is one of the wealthiest NWO elite, a Bilderberger/CFR favorite and is heavily associated with the Rockefeller eugenics movement - though they couch it in more paletteable terms these days.
Google "Bill Gates eugenics" and see what comes up.
Insofar as Gates helping kids - I wonder if that is not akin to trying to buy a stairway to Heaven? The mafiosos have also been great contributors to churches and charities, but that has not washed the blood or stench of their crimes off their hands.
Having said that, it would be great to see money which goes to poor developing nations spent on better nutrition, clean potable water and better overall sanitation to prevent the spread of disease. Much better than just jabbing poor undernourished children and peoples with vaccines which contain carcinogens, mutagens, spermicides and more.

We see the same kind of false justification for vaccines here, despite vastly superior sanitation and drinking water: just jab a concoction of unnatural chemicals instead of concentrate on proper diet and lifestyle and building a strong natural immune system that is our natural first line of defense against disease and illness.

This is a reply to # 1,823,799Most of the childhood immunizations are for respiratory communicable diseases - pneumococcal & meningococcal pneumonia, measles, mumps, rubella, haemophilus influenzae type B, rotavirus, pertussis, varicella, and a couple of types of influenza. Lack of clean water and nutrition are not significant contributing factors with these diseases as the specific bacterium and viruses are not waterborne. Only polio, hepatitis and a couple of viruses causing common colds have water as a potential infective source. Typhoid vaccinations are not usually a childhood vaccination except in endemic areas.
Hand washing is always a good preventive measure.

Clean water and nutrition are critical for a robust immune system.(period) Transmission is not the only factor. Your assertion about healthy people not being susceptible to disease is wrong though. Healthy people are just as likely to contract disease, but they have a better chance of having better outcomes, than those that are unhealthy.
With some diseases, such as influenza, having a healthy immune system, can be detrimental, rather than a benefit.
Anyone interested can have a look at the death rate among healthy individuals, during the 1918 spanish flu pandemic.

Actually, people who have healthy immune systems are not equally susceptible to disease. While they may still come down with diseases, they do so far less often than those who have weak immune systems. The reason is that in many instances a strong natural immune system prevents a disease from ever acquiring a foothold. As the late great scientists Antoine Bechamp observed, disease is caused by a combination of undernourished cells and toxins which create an unhealthy environment (unhealthy cellular terrain) which is favorable for disease to proliferate.
Barring an immune disorder, it is very rare to find instances of a strong immune system to be detrimental. Even when there someone does have an immune disorder, natural immune modulators can often enable them to have a strong immune system while controlling the immune disorder.
The Spanish Flu was a very rare exception when it comes to the normal benefits of having a strong immune system. In the instance of the Spanish Flu, people were exposed to a new virus which they had no natural antibodies for. If such ever happens again, it is still a good idea to have as strong an immune system as possible while taking plenty of natural antivirals and pathogen killers.

Vaccinations work well because they introduce the immune system to various inert pathogens, so the immune system is able to recognise those pathogens, when encountered.
Spanish flu was not an isolated or rare instance of healthy people being infected and killed by a virus. It has and is happening today.
Bechamp's work was ground breaking, and many have built on his work over the last century.
I actually think it is just as important to help people in developing countries, to have clean water, better nutrition, and better housing and education, as well as giving them access to vaccines that will save the lives of many.
Its very easy for those in western countries to quibble about how aid is given, particularly when those western countries are home to the multinational corporations that are causing much of the destruction of the food and environment in developing countries.
Your comments are interesting, in light of a post by a numbered person in a previous thread. I am starting to see a pattern here, with your posts and those of this particular number. Worth investing further I think.

Perhaps I should clarify:
First of all, it should be universally recognized that having a strong immune system is much preferred to having a weak one. Sure, people with strong immune systems do get sick, just not generally as often or as bad. In other words, on average people with strong immune systems usually come down with far less illness and are better able to fight illness off when they do have it.
When I said the Spanish Flu was a rare exception, I was referriing to it being a rare exception when a disease outbreak adversely affected more people with strong immune systems than those with weak ones. As I indicated earlier, even in the event of a new pathogen which we did not have natural immunity to I would still opt for a strong immune system and take extra measures such as anti-virals and pathogen destroyers. I should also have mentioned natural immune modulators. Personally I would not choose to take a hit or miss vaccine (as is often the cases when it comes to influenza) which also introduced items such as mercury and other neurotoxins, carcinogens, mutagens, etc.
Good points we agree on when it comes to helping people have clean water, better sanitation and better nutrition. And I also agree with the multinational greed and villany that has victimized the developing countries.
As for the part about the numbered poster or any linkage of posts, I have no idea what you are talking about.

This is a reply to # 1,824,277Yep, agreed, having a strong immune system is usually better than having a weak one, and I've personally said this many times.
I've also said that whether to vaccinate, or not, is a personal choice, and people need to accept the responsibility for adverse outcomes from either choice. (from what I have researched, I haven't found any countries that force vaccination on people, but am open to evidence to the contrary if it exists).
Its a matter of probability, of judging the odds. Being fully and honestly informed of the various pro's and con's is vitally important.
Personally I don't bother with flu vaccines, because the odds are in my favour that I would not have an adverse outcome or die from flu. (when my Partner contracted swine flu, he recovered quickly with herbal treatments, and I did not contract the disease at all). If I had no access to herbal remedies, or to clean water and good nutrition, I would have decided on having the vaccine, as the odds of an adverse outcome would have been far greater. However, I certainly am in no position to judge whether others should have this vaccination or not.
The interest I have in your posts and those of the numbered person, is purely personal, so you don't really need to understand what I'm talking about. I'll leave it at that on the public forum.

For the most part we appear to agree.
If the choice came down to vaccinating a person who was condemned to poor sanitation, unclean water and lack of nutrition or not I will concede that is some instances a vaccination might be better than doing nothing at all - I would just prefer to see the emphasis on helping the poor have better nutrition, clean water and better sanitation instead of a vaccination first (and often only) approach.
If I don't need to understand what you are talking about in regards to a numbered posters messages, then why did you choose to include it in your reply to me? At any rate, let me know what you find out. Privately if you prefer.
When you finish your investigation, perhaps you could take on something that is puzzling to me: namely, why the pattern of a certain group of people coming along and responding to my posts with innuendo and/or personal attacks and/or attempts to renew old grudges. As best I can tell, such posts and posters are attempting to make ME the issue instead of what the thread started out about.
The way I see it, healing, helping and trying to "educate instead of medicate" is what this website is supposed to be about. Cheap shots, personal enmity, holding on and/or attempting to resurrect old grudges, behind the scenes skullduggery and such are not in keeping with those ideals and, imo, the members of this site would be best served by putting such issues and actions in the past and moving on.

This is a reply to # 1,824,312I agree, I would love to see more aid to developing countries, particularly where the people being given the aid, are encouraged to determine for themselves what that aid is spent on, not politicians, who have a tendency to be corrupt. Then if they decide they want clean water sources, better food or housing, or vaccinations, the decision would be theirs.
Unfortunately, that is not what happens today, most aid is tied to political, religious, or corporate strings attached. Personally, I think it would be a wonderful world, if people were not so selfish, and simply gave without an agenda attached.
I chose to include the reference to the numbered persons post, because it interested me, in light of very similar comments made in both posts, (although your comments were a lot more polite and civil), nothing more. It wasn't meant to offend, and if my investigation comes to anything, and you are interested, I can email you.
There seems to be a pattern with people making up user names and numbers for the express purpose of attacking others, I have brought this up with the WM before, although nothing has come of this as far as I can see. If you feel this is happening to you, you should probably take it to the webmaster's forum.
Trolls are everywhere, and it seems that this is an accepted part of internet forums. Although I do not count people who simply disagree, or post information that shows a theory or protocol to be wrong or dangerous, as trolls.

The country of Japan has been virtually destroyed by Nuclear meltdowns due to not only antiquated technology but also human greed, incompetence and neglect. But Bill Gates wants to go full steam ahead with building Nuclear Power plants...negating all the deaths and problems that have transpired and will only continue to multiply with cancer and birth defects in the future.
"Oh, we just had old technology...new technology will solve all the problems." It seems humans are collateral damage to Bill Gates. Humans make mistakes Bill, and also Humans are greedy. This is a reply to # 1,824,440The nuclear problems in Japan are mostly due to a natural disaster, earthquake and tsunami, and its unlikely that the nuclear disaster would have occurred if the natural disaster had not taken place.
That being said, I do not agree with building more nuclear power stations, and think that the existing ones should be safely decommissioned, (which is actually happening in many countries).
Bill Gates is entitled to his opinion, just as anyone else is, and regardless of how wrong people may think he is.
I think vaccinations have their place, and have saved many millions of lives, and to me, the people who want to see all vaccines abolished, don't give 2 hoots about those that will die, or be permanently disfigured or disabled, from preventable diseases.
Selfish people, who don't do much at all to help people in developing countries, but see fit to want to deny them the same choices that they themselves have, the right to choose whether they vaccinate their children or not.
Bill Gates, not only funds vaccines, he funds a great many other projects, to help people in developing countries. I think this is a good thing, if it is not forced on those receiving the funds.
