I am beginning to think that a number of the items forbidden on the anti-candida diet are forbidden more out of superstition than
Science or logic. For example, there are certain mushrooms that are proven to boost the immune system, such as maitake and portobello. But we are not supposed to eat them because "fungus feeds fungus"--that sounds pretty superstitious to me. I have been eating portobello and maitake in my salads every day for months now without any ill effect.
Same goes for raw honey--I have never noticed any ill effect from eating raw honey in small moderation (i.e., one or two teaspoons a day in warm water with ACV. I feel much safer eating a teaspoon of organic manuka honey than I do eating a cupful of brown rice or some other grain, that's for sure.
