I'm hypo., been on Synthroid (150 mcg) for a while, but used to bite them in half per day, for a year. I moved recently, got a new doc, and a renewed Rx for Synthroid, so took whole pills for 3 weeks -
BUT, recently and just before that, when I had run out of Synthroid, I took Kelp ( Country Life Norwegian Kelp tablets) and L-Tyrosine supplements, thinking I was smart. I still took those when I started on Synthroid again, then became overheated (face/cheeks), and also got swollen lymph glands, which still persist, now for 2 weeks, enlarge, then retreat.
Am trying to cut things out to see if it was a reaction to oversupplementation or overmedication of T4 -- I felt alternating pains in the throat (left side, then right) which went away.
( I have not tried or asked for T3 or Armour thyroid, which I believe may be one of the culprits?)
Did I have an immune reaction to the buildup of T4 and also the Kelp and L-Tyrosine vitamin taking?
I know I also have low adrenal function and dont take anything for it, except for occasional DHEA when I think of it. I need to get a new doctor (presently just with general practice MD, and she's young)
Does Synthroid accumulate in your system for a while, then start overheating you and give you an immune reaction if it is too high a dose?
I guess my main question is: Are these swollen glands for weeks and overheated face typical symptoms of those with Hypothyroidism or low Adrenal function who've overmedicated?
Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!
