This quite often happens as people age due to eating too many cooked and/or processed foods over the course of a life-time. A simple way to help this problem improve is to start eating most of your food 'live'. If you are drinking fresh juices and eating food in it's 'live' state, then it will automatically come with it's own enzyme supply. Another secret is to eat smaller meals more often and to simplify. Instead of eating three big meals with a variety of foods - eat something simple, more often; such as an apple, a salad, fresh juice, a slice of watermelon.
If the reflux is bad, one of the best remedies I have seen is to drink aloe juice with some blue green algae. This seems to help cure the problem and the damage in a short period of time.
