WY, I also practice oil pulling during my normal or nonfasting days, and I know it stimulates the gall bladder to empty bilis to cleanse itself. It might cause, during fasting -not to everybody- some gastric discomfort, since the digestive system would be detoxing more rapidly than the rest of our body systems. I can only imagine the possible discomfort or accelerated healing crisis because of it.
I trust the body to establish its own order of cleaning, according to its needs-those things it knows better than us. I believe that is a more natural way to detox/clean our system. Only our body knows the proper order of cleansing, you know...those little tumors or growings, those terrible diseases waiting for a chance to manifest...that go now UNDETECTED. The body knows all and each of our cells, our tiniest corners within, if you understand what I mean. I believe in its natural intelligence and don't like to interfere with it.
That is the reason why I don't like enemas while fasting-they are very useful, like oil pulling, and many other things, when we are not fasting.
Some people believe that the old feces are taken back into the system if we don't use enemas while fasting. That is, they believe the body will not know how to handle the old feces better than us, that we need to help it by deciding when and how to expel our old feces, because we know better. It is true that we might "know" better when we are not fasting, because then, we are usually assaulting the body with our bad habits in feeding and living.
It has been documented that the body heals himself. Whatever we do, take, etc. is kind of a help, but we are not the owners of the process. In other words, we should not intrude when we fast...In other words, I would not hurry up my body in its own house cleaning.
It does not mean that speeding the process with oil pulling would be bad or that you are wrong. This is to show how many different ways there are to approach fasting and one should fast, as best as one can, even if that means, enemas, oil pulling and drinking non distilled water. We are not to be perfectionist, only God is perfect. We are to fast, to fast..that is the goal. And then, when we fast we pay attention to our body, he is the Ultimate Teacher, the Real Guru. I feel religious about it, and am may be at fault for it.
Happy Fasting!
