So his solution was fitting your whole mouth with brand new connecting crowns rather than orthodontics? It boggles the mind!
MrCuddly, you have no idea the hell this dentist put me through. I told him I couldn't afford the whole mouth reconstruction, so he came up with a more affordable solution. Less expensive crowns that looked decent for $10,000, then I could replace one crown at a time with porcelain crowns as I could afford it. Well, the less expensive crowns turned out to be Biotemps and, as the name implies, they are meant to be temporary. They started breaking immediately, leaving my tooth stubs exposed. And, since they were all attached, there was no way to just replace one at a time as I could afford it.
I ended up going to another dentist, who replaced all the Biotemps with new temporaries. Then, everytime I saved up $5000, I would go see him and have a section of the new temporaries replaced with porcelain. Spent $10,000 for front top and bottom, and another $10,000 for right top and bottom. Then the recession hit, and I haven't had $10,000 to complete the left top and bottom. In the meantime, the temporaries have broken on those teeth, leaving just exposed stubs on my left back top and bottom teeth. It's disgusting.
Sad thing is, these teeth will now probably need to be pulled and I'll have to get implants w/crowns. Who knows when I'll ever be able to afford that! Also, even the porcelain crowns had to be attached to be strong enough to support my bite. So something goes wrong with one tooth, the whole bunch needs to be replaced. My mouth is one big expensive disaster!
On the bright side, it did fix my bite and I don't grind my teeth anymore!
