Curezone is still pretty oldschool looking.

I too noticed this. WE use to be right behind Mercola. What happened? Now Mercola has a twitter page and he is very, very personal. I remembered the first time he talked to me on twitter and then @qutequte picked up his tweet to me and then others followed. A very smart man in deed. Now when he spoke the whole world listened.

But this is a forum, isn't it quite a different format than the others like Mercola that basically have their own agenda, then comments can follow their articles? Here it is for the people, by the people. :)

I have never come across any alternative health forum type website, I think CZ is the only one! Maybe you can include Earch Clinic or the Yahoo groups?

I wouldn't put too much worry into that ridiculous number.

Curezone seems to be in a class by itself anyway.

I, personally have learned a lot here and have benefitted more from the people who post online here than anywhere else on the internet. Of course there are the angry people and the characters that disrupt the peace, but that is life.

Many posts here do use links from the other alternative health sites. Those websites read more like books while CureZone is a mass of conversations.

CZ is head and shoulders above the rest, IMO, as far as a forum-based site goes. I have looked at other sites that have forums, and I am a member of the yahoo Iodine group. Even though other sites may have good info to share none of them has the dynamic design that CZ does. Threads are very hard to read, there is no "real time" interaction such as CZ has. I also think that Dushan has improved the site tremendously in the time that I've been here. We now have the ability to view a complete thread, or a portion of a long thread without having to click on each post. We can switch to alternate forum view and view the first paragraph or so of each post and decide whether or not we want to open posts to read.

For those of us(them) that are html savvy, we can create posts with pictures, video, links, etc. None of that was available when I joined CZ...

One of the problems I see with CZ at this time, as far as public forums go, is that lack of good moderation. We only need to scroll further down the page here to find evidence of that. TOS are violated repeatedly, within the subject header, and no action has been taken. I do not visit a lot of the public forums regularly, my time is limited, but I do notice that people get away with a lot more than they used to...I think that threads like the one below confuse and intimidate the casual viewer.

I know that there are "global" mods now, but how active are they?

CZ used to have a very tight moderating crew, I recall that there was some criticism of the decision to appoint individual mods for different public forums. I recall reading that that had been tried before and that it did not work out, I don't think that it is working now.

I full well understand that moderating is a thankless job unless one has a vested interest in the subject at hand. So, I have no solution to offer there, I do know that people move on in their lives though and if they have not been active in moderating for a time, perhaps they should relinquish their rights.

I do think though that the lack of tight moderation has made CZ a bit of a free-for-all, and I think that some of the conversations here undermine the credibility of the site.

I also have noticed that there has not been a newsletter in quite some time.
Mercola has quite a successful site(although I beg to differ with a lot of the info he offers:), and the mercola site sends out e-mails on a regular basis.

I know that in the past Dushan has created the newsletters. Perhaps we can get CZ members involved in the creation of newsletters, somehow. and actually mail them out!

I can't imagine what it takes to keep a site like this running(from the technical side). I think that Dushan needs our help with this, there are many excellent writers/thinkers, here at CZ. Perhaps a newsletter article submission forum? If we all contribute, it would certainly save webbie some time weeding through all of the posts.

I think that we have all benefited from CZ(I know that I have), perhaps we can work together to keep it visible.

For me, it's because the 'cures' didn't work. I had to look elsewhere. I was around here in 2001 but rarely come here now. It's all the same stuff repeated over and over again. Also, I think a lot of health guessing goes on. I got sick of guessing my health.

One of the problems with the basic paternalistic medical world is a reductionist and mechanistic view. The sum of the parts are not the whole.

It seems to me that we are getting like this. When someone comes on here for help, instead of leading them into exploring avenues for themselves, people throw their agendas at them. Do a liver flush, take Iodine, zap, you must have parasites! And we participate in the same fear base that Western Medicine does, probably without even realizing we are doing so.

I do believe that western medicine does offer some advantages. As people trying to help others, we should also help very scared and sick people use all to their advantage. But we have demonized the good in bio-medicine to such a point that we are not offering people all avenues to explore.

At the end of the day, it is not the sum of the parts, it's the whole of the person. I remember Owen understood this. At that point it felt like a happier more gentle Curezone. I do believe this site needs to get back to basics.

But how to take a monolithic site like this and do that?

I hate to say this, but I think that money has taken this website down. And as with any corporation that has gone through growth, it's reached it's own level of incompetence.

i think alot of it is because curezone does not really encourage opinions that they don't deem fit for their purpose.

for instance, if you come on and say Dr. Clark's parasite cleanse is the best on the market, and I come on and refute those claims, they I would get bashed on curezone because this site promotes her and her products. this discourages many people from communicating on this site, because they cannot voice their opinions based on their experiences. anytime freedom of speech is discouraged, people will go elswhere to voice their opinions.

you can go on other sites and your opinions/comments will not be blocked unless you use alot of vulgarity, these you will find more popular than some of the stricter sites. strict = boring.
