Could be Giardia. In my many online searches in the past 5 years on this subject I have done a "sulfur belches" search and found a forum with some people claiming they where diagnosed with Giardia and also had "sulfur belches" as symptom. However, I was diagnose with Giardia and never had "rotten egg belching odor". I did have the other symptoms you described though. I'm sorry I don't have a link to that forum. - some how I ended up searching for "sulfur belches" on my acid and sour belches search. -
I also tried Metronidazole and it didn't even tickle my unfriendly Giargia and Amoeba. IIRC I tried some alternative stuff like Paratrex which also didn't work.
What worked for me was Furazolidone and I took it for 6 or 7 days for the first time + 8 days on the second time and today I'm taking it again. I hope it will finish it off this time.
I also tried a number of other drugs like secnidazole, Nitazoxanide (made me feel real sick), Albendazole, Mebendazole (not to confuse with Metronidazole), Xifaxan, kitnos, Diloxanide furoate, Pletil against Amoeba and Giardia with some success.
I didn't take all of those drugs together, I took them separately in the course of 5 years. Be very careful if you self medicate...
I also tried a number of labs in USA and they all turned out negative.
I got gastritis as a side effect from some of those drugs and had to take omeprazole & nexium which also gave other side effects.
I did
parasite tests at 3 labs in USA, Jetty Katz, MetaMetrix & Quest Diagnostics. They where totally useless with the exception of MetaMetrix which came up with protozoan
parasites taxonomy unknown. To find Giargia I did a Proctoscopy at a lab in Brazil (forgot the name) and also stool test at Labion lab in Brazil. I have read about people that got results from Genova Diagnostics tests but didn't try them.
Which lab did you use?
I have read that if you test too soon after you take
parasite medications, the test result comes out negative. You may have a false negative...
I don't regret taking those drugs, their side effects are nothing compared to what Amoeba and Giargia did to me for the last 5 years. For some reason Hypoglycemia was one of my side effects of Amoeba and Giargia. My hypoglycemia was not fun (putting it mildly).
BTW, I'm not a doctor, I'm just sharing my experience. I hope you have a good doctor and heal soon...
