Well, I started with the plaquenil and a week of prednisone, but after two weeks, she put me on the minocycline also. It would be hard to say which one has been helping more.
My derm took a biopsy and thinks what I have is granulomatous cheilitis.
You prob already know this, but if you google granulomatous cheilitis and minocycline- several articles come up about it.
Before I started these meds, I had contact allergy testing, which came out negative. I am also not deficient in any vitamins.
It's been puzzling to say the least. I feel very lucky to have found her as I have seen many other doctors who haven't been of help.
Like you, I also started eliminating foods. I went vegan for a month, but didn't see any effect, so I went back to my vegetarian ways. I have been gluten free for about two months now. I am also taking fish oil and a multivitamin once a day. And, as of today, I started taking a vit. b complex after reading some posts on here about niacin being helpful. I've also started running on a regular basis.
I am so happy to hear you are doing better, especially that your peeling is almost gone! That is so exciting! I might just have to try eliminating
Sugar and
benzoates . I dont know much about
benzoates , but I think they are like food
preservatives - so do you just stick to organic and fresh produce? What veggies have you eliminated?
Sorry for all the questions, and thank you for your replies. I'm so happy our paths have crossed on here. And, yes, I'll keep you updated.
