Wow your situation sounds similar to mine. I had great skin until 16, and then acne hit, and I used salycilic acid and then proactiv, all while surfing and working outside. Of course I used sunscreen and was aware while spending time in the sun, but would still look red. Then the doctor said I have seborrheic dermatitis, haha. I've come to the personal conclusion that only using natural products can be truly safe, so I don't plan on taking the cream he suggested. The redness can be seen as an inflammatory response of the immune system trying to guard the face, so I'm trying to restore my body to a good balance. After reading that Kelly Slater uses it, I've used Jojoba oil(which is actually a wax esther), which seems to help topically, due to anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Cutting out a large amount of dairy, refined sugars, and wheat is a great idea. Take good vitamins, eat tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, and incorporate anti-bacterial foods like coconut, garlic, onion, etc....I'm not an expert but my skin is healing itself
