Do you think the copper IUD is safe if I've had symptoms of Estrogen Dominance? I ask because just had the Mirena IUD removed in March 2010 after having it for 5 yrs. My OBGYN talked me into the Pariguard IUD/copper one but it was a nightmare because it was so painful that I fainted. The doc said I had a vasovagal reaction which suprised me because it didn't even happen when the Mirena was inserted.
I ask this questions because my OBGYN/Family Practice doc is the one who has tried to convince me to take out my Mirena for the last 4 years!!! I started seeing her right after I had it inserted and she wanted to change it out after only a month!!! She's obviously more informed than most doctors yet after I read the articles on Estrogen Dominance, I'm now concerned the excess copper might cause me more problems. She didn't seem concerned about this so I'm asking you guys. I'm taking charge of my health now and not just relying on others. I appreciate all your stories and information.
I feel really stupid to be so uniformed about the Mirena side-effects after given a warning that most of you would have appreciated!!! I didn't think I had side effects of the Mirena except acne, cysts, and occasional cramping which was worth not have a period for 5 yrs. My doc hates the Mirena but where she missed the mark was by not realizing that all my health problems over the last 4 1/2 yrs were symptoms of Mirena. When it was time to get a new IUD, my doc wouldn't put in another Mirena although I begged and she suggested I do more research. She said my hormones were causing my problems. Hello---like to have known that one years ago!! When I followed up on Mirena side effects, I was stunned and upset that not 1 doc realized that all these issues could be related to the Mirena.
