I am posting this question on behalf of my 12 year old daughter. She has written out her question herself, but I have corrected her spelling and that sort of thing, but the context is mostly her work. If you can help us, please do!
Thanks, XG
"I am a 12 year old girl. Please help if you can. What is this illness that I have? No doctors can diagnose my problems. My mother has taken me to so many doctors, specialists, allergists, paediatricians and they all say I have something different (hyperventilation; and it's all in my mind; and I just want to get attention; are the most popular diagnosis). My Mum thinks I have reactive airways, but I only got this problem when I was 9. The doctors have tried me on new drugs and treatments but nothing works. Do you know anything that is similar to my story?
Does anybody have the sensation of trouble breathing out but who doesn't have asthma?
My peak flow meter goes down sometimes from 300 to 250. That is usually when I have a reactive airways incident e.g. cigarette smoke, petrol, hairspray, essential oils etc.
Other times I still feel like I can't breathe out properly, but my peak flow meter shows that I am able to move the air out of my lungs.
I have a big problem with acid reflux/GERD. I have to sleep with a wedge pillow or the acid really hurts me. I get acid burns on my nose and polyps growing inside them at times. Sometimes these are full of pus and I can puncture them to relieve the pressure, but at other times I have to just wait till they go away by themselves.
One doctor said that he thought he heard me wheeze once, but no other doctors have heard it. I don't cough or crackle in my lungs either. After many trips to the emergency department at the hospital we have always been told that my blood oxygen saturation is usually 98-100%. So the doctors don't think it is asthma. We then thought it was deyhdration as one doctor from the emergency department said that's what he thought it was. Then they suggested it was acid reflux and then GERD and then Lymes disease and then allergies and then panic attacks and then reactive airways and then bronchitis. Who knows what it will be next?
I went to a naturopath who checked my blood and saliva and urine out and he found
parasites in my red blood cells. I did his programme and the bugs were gone by the next visit. But my symptoms didn't go away. I still find it hard to breathe out all the time.
I think it all started when my pet cockatiel (Australian parrot) went into a sick chickens' cage and then kissed me on my nose. Then i got a really bad flu, like really bad. I then started spitting up yellow mucus from my stomach and got a post-nasal drip constantly dripping down my throat. Then I started to get tonsillitis really severely and very often too. These little yellow cysts would grown on the back of my throat and Mum found out they were probably "reactive pharyngeal tonsil tissue." see photos of a mouth similar to mine at
http://www.dentalmedsoft.com/OralPathBookdemo/OralPathText/Chapter%201.htm
"In the posterior pharyngeal wall are tissues that are tonsillar and can become reactive and then noted as bright pink, fleshy masses (Figures 1.34 and 1.35). Sometimes pseudocysts are noted in them. Also noted in some patients in this area is a yellow, white, sticky mucus plug (postnasal drip) (Figure 1.36).
After after 8 months I got the feeling of trouble breathing in which lasted for 2 years and then, during the 3rd year I started getting the feeling of trouble breathing out. My feeling of trouble breathing in is constant - all the time - and it never ends and now the feeling of trouble breathing out also is pretty much constant.
What we were thinking is that my bird (which died at only 9 months of age from an illness the vet could not diagnose), gave me the bug which lives to this day in my sinuses and maybe still gets into my red blood cells. We saw them in live blood analysis test under a micro scope. The bugs look like malaria but the last few visits to the naturopath show the bugs are not in my blood anymore. But I still have the acid reflux/GERD trouble, the breathing difficulties and then the post nasal drip drips down my throat into my stomach which I think is giving me acid reflux. I cant seem to kill the bug even though I am using
Lugol's Iodine with borax, salt and water to flush with several times a day. It helps, but I want to get rid of these bugs for good! I also found that
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement was very helpful, but now I can't take it as my stomach is too sore and it hurts to take it now.
I'm always worse in summer and spring and we thought that was from pollen or allergies, but I don't test allergic to anything. I had my blood tests done for
food intolerances too and it didn't show too many foods were a problem and I haven't eaten those foods for months. I also don't eat any gluten either.
I thought I might be allergic to dogs as we had one dog and I was okay with her. After I got the bugs I only had trouble breathing in then we got a second dog and it progressed to the feeling of difficulty breathing out. I think I must be allergic to dogs, but my allergy tests say i'm not allergic to dogs which i find hard to believe. But the doctors have tested me 3 times with blood tests and skin prick tests twice. I don't sneeze, get runny eyes or runny nose around dogs, but still, can the tests be wrong?
I also break out in sores on my nose ever since the bird and i have nose polyps every time my inflammation is up. I also get pain under my left ribs if I don't use the ultimate zapper every day.
The feeling of breathing out difficulty is constant.
Does anybody have any symptoms or a story like mine? I feel very depressed about not being able to even get a diagnosis. If we don't know what the problem is, how can we try to beat it. Mum has spent thousands of dollars trying to find the answer, so if you can help, we will be REALLY thankful.
Thanks a lot." That is the end of the question from my daughter. Thank you all. XG
