Brought to you by The Best Years in Life Stop Using 'Natural' Deodorants Until You Read This Posted by: Dr. Mercola Some of the most popular natural deodorants are the "crystal" deodorant stones and sprays. But most people don't know that these crystal deodorant products contain aluminum. The crystal deodorant stones are made from alum. The most widely used form of alum used in the personal care industry is potassium alum. The full chemical name of potassium alum is potassium aluminum sulfate. The reason that most people try to avoid aluminum in deodorant is because of its possible link to Alzheimer's disease. There is some strong evidence of a link -- for instance, in 1988 a truck driver accidentally dumped 20 tons of aluminum sulfate in to a town's drinking water. Now, over 20 years later, they are finding a higher incidence of Alzheimer’s in the people of this town. Incidentally, the article linked below notes that, “many doctors such as popular web guru and natural health expert Dr. Mercola suggest avoiding aluminum as much as possible.”

Hi Karlin,
Yep, I remember back in the 1980's my mother-in-law being the health guru in the family. I remember her mentioning back then about the dangers of aluminum and that it could very well be a cause for Alzheimer's.
Thank you for your input and yes, I agree whole heartedly. All I use is colloidal silver also, but I use the soap and skin bars from Utopia Silver. I just use it in the shower and I have no need for deodorants. By the way, colloidal silver is also good for the skin and complexion.
My Best,
Luella
Alum is added to tap water and to lakes/ponds, and of course to baking powder. I will not eat or drink any of that stuff.
I reseached this alum topic extensively years ago and could not really come to a definitive conclusion on whether or not to use it as a deodorant. It does work well to stop odor. One thing I found only from experience though is that the alum deodorant tends to form white alum dust inside the shirt, which can easily be seen inside a dark colored shirt at the end of the day. I think some of this dust is inhaled during the day and when sleeping at night and moving around. Sometimes I notice a difference when not using it as far as breathing/throat/lungs. I should stop using it. Back to the drawing board.
I will try colloidal silver. Thanks Luella.
(can topical colloidal silver cause problems if used too much, such as that blue skin issue?)
Sorry for the late reply, but I am not getting all my alerts.
That is why we only recommend colloidal silver from two companies, Utopia Silver and Mesosilver. Their product is comparable and that is the best silver you will find on the market. With high quality colloidal silver, there is absolutely no danger of argyria. Argyria becomes a problem when other ingredients, such as salt and animal proteins are included. Another cause of argyria is poorly made colloidal silver using tap water.
My Best,
Luella
