I have been fighting chelitis for a couple years now on and off. After going back and forth, round and round, trial and error, searching and researching, I have found some things that help me heal.
First since I am convinced my chelitis is fungal in origin, due to the fact that I took some serious garlic pills, (6 daily for six months) and was very lax on my probiotics, I needed to find an antifugal that would help me.. logically. I tried to stay natural and easily available so I settled on Braggs raw apple cider vinegar. I put 2-3 T in a 16oz water bottle, fill the rest with water and sip it all day, actually I really like the flavor, wakes your mouth up. It NEEDS to be raw vinegar though, as it is the only one with live organisms that will help us. Along with the vinegar, as most people with fungal infections know, I limit my
Sugar intake. Some anti candida diets say eliminate ALL sugar, fruit, honey, maple syrup, and even simple carbs like white flour and white rice, along with of course refined products and High fructose corn syrup.
I have found, through trial that It seems im only affected by refined sugars, I eat tons of fruit, and im fine, but as soon as I put that cookie or cake in my face, the corners of my mouth start to tighten up and crack. This may of course vary person to person and with the severity of your case.
And finally the third piece to my chelitis puzzle, is CARMEX, I tried to steer clear of any topical remedy, because I hate to be dependent on it, but in conjunction with diet and raw vinegar, carmex compliments my treatment nicely, and a little dab will do, so you dont have to be the person with gobs of goo on your face, just rub a little into the corners of your mouth or lips and they become a little more supple, just enough to resist cracking. It has menthol and camphor that help heal too.
And to WGB -
Im guessing the molasses was for B12? It seems to me that the molasses would be the fault in that remedy. I think the amount of
Sugar in it could be counter productive. Its my feeling (im no doctor BTW, but that doesnt mean anything to me anyway) that if you address the fungal issues, your body will naturally start absorbing more B vitamins by itself. If your problem is fungal, probably yeast of some sort, then its these yeast that are eating your B vitamins (damn them!) before you can absorb them, if you get rid of the yeast, then you get back your vitamins, but if you eat
Sugar (molasses) then you feed the yeast and the process continues...
There was a time when I was taking liquid B complex, and it worked for awhile. Pills didnt work I needed the potent liquid stuff. But I havent been taking it lately and have been very impressed with the results of my vinegar/diet/carmex. Sorry to be so long winded, its just that any forum Ive seen on this is so outdated that I wanted to respond to this one and see if I could share my remedy. I hope your try it and I hope it works for you like it did for me!! Chelitis is a pain in the butt, and can be very emotionally destructive, I think it really does have an easy cure though as long as doctors are willing to look for the cause rather than treating the symptoms and then tailor the cure to the specific patient/cause. Ok Im done. Thank you and good luck.
