I started my first ever juice fast yesterday so I thought I'd report on the first thing I noticed happening in my body. This is only day two but when I got up this morning I was kind of croupy and all day today I've been coughing up phlegm. I don't have a cold or anything like that so this must be a healing of some kind that is taking place YAY!!
I don't have the energy yet that people talk about when juice fasting but I don't think that usually starts until along about day 4 or 5 maybe. I haven't been chomping at the bit for solid food, when I get hungry I just go get a pint of juice.
For those who think that juice fasting is hard because of the work that goes into juicing I just want to say that I think the exact opposite. I juiced enough yesterday for about a day and a half for my husband and I. I would have juiced more but I only have 24 pint jars so I had to juice again today. The hardest part of juicing was peeling all those darn oranges lol but other than that it was a breeze with the Omega Vert, I spent less than an hour from start to finish. Much less time than I would have spent shopping, cooking and then cleaning up afterwards when eating solid food.
The thing I most enjoy is not having to worry about what to fix for dinner or any meal as far as that goes. A little while ago I asked my husband if he was hungry, he said he was so I went to the fridge and grabbed a pint of juice and took it to him, he laughed and said that was the fastest meal I'd ever fixed lol. Easy, very easy.
I don't know if I'll start craving solid food or not, I guess we'll have to wait and see but I DO know that there is some kind of healing going on in my body and its only day two so I'm thinking that fact alone will help me to pass whatever emotional desire I might have to eat solid food. If I do get the desire to eat solid food I'm positive it will be an emotional need and not a physical one because I'm know I'm getting all the nutrients my body needs from the juice and I AM able to overcome an emotional need.
We decided on a 10 day fast simply because my husband has never done any kind of a fast before and I didn't want to make a goal for 30 days and have him fail to reach the end. I've water fasted before (which we don't promote on this forum) so I don't think I'll have any problem sticking to a juice fast.
Been taking both the IF's and all my tinctures and exercising too. I feel great so far.
Blessings.

I know I am not the only one cheering you onward. It is exciting when you have someone to share a juice fast with!
It sounds like you have prepared well and that is the key to success.
I hope you will post all of your experiences.
Wishing you health,
Water
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I'm on day three now and its going great.
I've been drinking a lot of different combos of fruits and veggies. Nothing really to report except to say that I feel much lighter, I don't feel bloated. The thing is, I didn't know I was bloated at all until I had been juicing for a couple of days. Amazing when you change what you put into your body how your body responds.
I'm thinking I'm gonna love the way I feel when this is over! My hubby is doing well too, he complains in a teasing way but he's sticking with me on this. YAY for him!!!
Britelite, I wish you well on your fast in March. If you're not sure about being able to do a 30 day then you could always set your goal for 10 days and see how you feel when they're up. Its great you're already juicing about half you're intake, that will probably make it easier on you when you do the fast.
Telly, I know you said you started juicing, are you doing the juice fast now?
Juicing on!

Willowley on MH's OJ fast? I certainly hope NOT!
On this forum, we utilize & suggest only the best/safest, most consistent, PROVEN healing protocols of healers that actually healed people (as in, were actually in practice and took joint responsibility for the lives & well-being of their patients)...Dr. Gerson, Dr. Christopher & Dr. Schulze. Combined, these great healers have healed tens of thousands of people that followed their protocols (safely!). There have several people on CZ alone in the past years that have gotten into trouble with OJ fasting. There's simply NO reason to do any kind of "experimenting", especially with things that are totally (and some might say, dangerously) nutritionally unbalanced.
Dr. Christopher's IP was one week on carrot juice, one week on apple juice and one week on grape juice (with extra/balancing vitamins & minerals from blackstrap molasses and/or honey, herbal teas, potassium broth and wheat germ and olive oil); Dr. Gerson was primarily apple, carrot & mixed greens for juicing; Dr. Schulze also loved apple/carrot, but allowed most any juices desired (or whatever was preferred for their specific issue).
Dr. Max Gerson's thoughts on OJ: http://www.gersonhawaii.us/gersonarticle7.html
Gerson felt that this was the least important juice and added it primarily for the convenience of the patient in that so many people are used to orange juice to start the day. Recent research indicates that there may be some undesirable aspects to orange juice, such as excess mucus formation when large quantities are consumed....Take no more than 1 citrus juice per day. From the Gerson Book, "Citrus juices should not be used by patients who are suffering from collagen diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus"
with all the medication that is in my system "Medication in your system"? Oh honey, I hope you're not taking over-the-counter or pharmaceutical medicines while you're pregnant - or when/after you deliver
Many sites suggest not to juice fast while pregnant (I have no idea why, because it makes NO sense), but now is the perfect time to be juicing a mixed variety of organic fruits & veggies (and taking tons of Superfood). If I were pregnant, I'd be eating very cleanly and doing my best to ingest at least 1/2 gallon of fresh juice daily.
There's no reason to be constipated when pregnant - IF#1 or LBB should work beautifully.
Healthiest of blessings -

ME, do something that I personally think is STUPID? Not this ole gal lol NO!!!!! Thanks Uny, very well said!
I agree with everything Uny said plus I'll add that I would hope people who think that doing an O.J. only fast would not step into something blindly without doing the research because if they did, like Uny said, they'd find out it is NOT a good thing to do and NONE of the natural healers recommended doing an O.J. only fast. Why do something that could harm you?
I'm juicing lots of different mixtures of fruits and veggies. I've juiced spinach, celery, beets, carrots, apples, oranges and pineapples so far. My two favorite combos are carrots and pineapple and carrots and apples.
In closing I'd like to say, do the RESEARCH people, for your own good!
Blessings.

Here is a link to what Dr. Schulze has to say about juice fasting. Please note that he NEVER says to use just orange juice, he talks about fruits and veggies.

The best thing to do is to play around with combinations to see what you like best but try to get some of a lot of different fruits and veggies.
Here is another link about juicing.
And please remember what Uny said to you from the post above, "a mixed variety of organic fruits and veggies (and taking tons of Superfood)."

Wow, 40 pounds, thats a lot of oranges, that was the worst part of juicing for me, peeling all those oranges and I only got about 20 pounds.
Uny gave me a little hint to cut the oranges in half before trying to peel them and it DID make it much easier. I've still got half of my oranges to juice simply because I needed a break from peeling lol I'll probably juice the rest of them tomorrow.
Have fun with the combinations, I'm still experimenting with all that. I'm gonna juice some ginger tomorrow and put a little in some of my juice. I can't remember if I read where Uny said you could freeze the ginger juice or not, I'm thinking I saw where she said that but I'll have to ask her cause she said it only takes a tiny bit unless you really like the taste of ginger and I've got almost a pound to juice but she said it doesn't make very much juice.
Happy juicing Telly, let us know how it goes for ya.
Willow
I never thought of juicing them with the peels on but I guess you could, well, you do lol. I'm wondering if the Vert would handle them though.
Yeah, organic food is more expensive but so much better for us. Uny told me about buying food online, I'm gonna check it out since you go through so much when juicing.
Hope your oranges are yummy and very juicy. ;)
Yup, thats the one. Here is the post Uny made about it months ago, I'm sure the price list has changed lol.
I'm looking right now.
I see when I click on apples and oranges or any perishable item that under the shipping weight it says in red "not shippable by USP" which means that you'd have to have it delivered by truck by what they call a drop. Not sure what they do about it being winter and stuff freezing but I'm sure its there somewhere I just can't find it. I'm pretty sure thats why UPS won't ship those items or maybe its that they don't ship food. Uny told me but I can't remember.
Maybe calling would be easier. ;)
That is great news and at such a great price too. Can't beat that with a stick lol.
Have you tasted them yet?
Great!
Thought I'd let you know that Uny said that if you juice them with the peal on then it will make the juice really bitter so I haven't tried it lol. Don't want to make it harder on myself during my learning curve with the whole juicing thing lol.
Telly you da man!
Look what I found at the very back of the SYL manual where Schulze was talking about juice fasting.
"Fresh citrus juices with their rind are great liver cleansers.
SCHULZE: The bitter oils in citrus are big time liver cleansers. They disinfect and create more bile flow. And you have to get in the rind, which contains pectin. Run that rind through your juicer or your Vita-Mix. I look at citrus more as kidney and liver cleaning. It's also very effective for cleaning the blood and joints, like with arthritis."
