Hello i'm new to curezone. I've visited this site and read tons of posts but this is my first one.
My problem is that after taking borage oil for a week i'm experiencing sharp pain in my liver. It turns out borage oil shouldnt be used by people who have liver disorders or diseases.
My question is... do yall think I should be worried about any significant damage to my liver? I only took the stuff for a week, 9 pills total. The pain will most likely go away after another day. I've improved somehwat already.(i took my last dose yesterday) It hurts when I inhale too.. does this mean it's likely that my liver is enlarged or enflamed or fatty? I have Celiac disease which came from having candida.

This is a reply to # 1,550,826You haven't damaged your liver professionals often say that any oil can case liver/gallbladder pain if there is poor biliary flow. The reason being that the oil causes bile to flow and if there is a restriction it results in pain.
Borage oil capsules can cause bloating and nausea sometimes as can any change in dietary intake. Why not try bowel and Liver Cleansing instead.- Re: My liver hurts after taking bora... Mordz

This is a reply to # 1,551,339I wish it was simply a clogged liver but borage oil contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids.

It is said that if you have liver disease you shouldnt take borage oil. I guess that means something is terribly wrong with my liver =(! im only 21 though! I'll start Liver Flushing tuesday. Wish me luck o_o

This is a reply to # 1,551,456I spoke to my herbalist friend and she looked up her wholesale catalogue which says that the Borage seed oil supplied to her are free of pyrrolizidine alkaloids PAs. The commercially grown borage varieties have the seeds are natuarlly free of PAs even though they are found elsewhere in the plant. Samples are taken at the harvest time and independently checked by a laboratory in Germany. (I am in the UK)
You need to check to make sure the Borage oil is certified PA free.
