Hv,
I started the Prostate formula (Saw Palmetto, Jiaogulan, and Pygeum are the only new herbs in it that I wasn't taking before) about 1 week ago and it seems like since I started I have again started to get painful urination about 50% of the time. The painful urination seemed to go away in the last 6 weeks or so, but now it's back. The doctor said that the painful urination was caused by mild Prostatitis, so I was surprised when it just started getting better about 6 weeks ago. I was thinking I would need to start the Prostate formula before this would improve, but instead the opposite occurred! I also have a testosterone level in the low normal range. I want to start the Tribulus, but I thought I would do the Prostate formula first in order to avoid my DHT from getting higher.
Any idea what might be going on with me???
Thanks!
Painful urination can have several causes. Infection or kidney stones are the most common. Has there been any change in the color or smell of the urine? Did they check for blood in the urine?
The other possibility I can think of is prostate stones. Did the doctor check you for these as well?

I have had this painful urination on and off for about 4 years. I can't figure out a correlation between other symptoms. Sometimes when it's painful it is cloudy, but not all the time. I have only seen it a little cloudy once in the last week. I also have not noticed any change in color. Thanks to my sinus problems I can't tell you if there has been a change in smell. The urologist did check for bacteria (urinalysis and urine culture I believe) and didn't find any. I don't know if he checked for blood to be honest. Also, it is painful during ejaculation as well, if that tells you anything.

I don't know if he checked for those. What kind of test would that be? He pretty much did the urinalysis, urine culture, and the finger up the anus thing. He said he couldn't feel any inflammation of the prostate, but based on the other tests being negative he sent me home with Avodart, which I did not take. He said maybe the CF caused some blockage in the prostate ducts or something like that - he called it mild prostatitis. I did not followup because I never took the medicine.
One other possibly relevant thing. About two times in the past 2 years my Creatinine was elevated, but a followup creatinine clearance test was normal. The last lab results I had in August showed a normal creatinine of 1.0.
Regarding UTI, I did try the Uva Ursi for a few days about 2 months ago, but for some reason it increased the painful urination.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

This is also a symptom of prostate stones.

If they are large enough then the doctor could probably find them with the digital rectal exam. Otherwise an x-ray will find them or an ultrasound.

This all sounds like you may also have some kidney stones and you are passing gravel in the urine. The uva ursi actually helps to break up kidney stones, so this could be why you are getting the pain when using the uva ursi.
Prostate Stones: What is the treatment for this if I do indeed have them? Would it be the prostate formula that you usually recommend or something else? Could taking the prostate formula be breaking up these stones and thus be causing my recent pain?
Kidney Stones: Should I go back on the Uva Ursi for what might be kidney stones? How long would I have to take it to clear this up? I guess I could also follow your advice on kidney stones in this recent post - http://www.curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1537472 .... However, how do I determine which type of kidney stones I might have? Also, can kidney stones cause the painful ejaculation or not? I think maybe the "gravel" when urinating irritates the urinary tract and then it will hurt when I ejaculate next. What do you think?
Thanks!

Normally they are taken out surgically, but since they are composed of calcified proteins the magnesium malate should help dissolve them.

There is some magnesium in there from the herbs, but taking additional magnesium would be a good idea. Magnesium not only helps with calcificaitons, but is also a smooth muscle relaxant, which can help with the passing of stones. Again I would go with magnesium malate.

The nettle leaf in there does help break up stones, so this is a possibility.
Kidney Stones: Should I go back on the Uva Ursi for what might be kidney stones?
That would not be a bad idea, but remember to take a break for a few days if using the uva ursi for more than 4 days. Some kidney stones can also harbor bacteria that gets released as the stone dissolves, so this is another good reason to use the uva ursi as a means of dissolving stones.
How long would I have to take it to clear this up?
There are so many factors that it is impossible to say. But from what I have seen in the past it generally does not take long to dissolve stones. Generally a couple of weeks to a month.

The recommendations cover the different forms of kidney stones.

Yes, if the urethra is inflammed from passing gravel this could make ejaculation more painful.
