RE: acid/base "theory".
>>"Evidence is seriously lacking!!!"<<
Incorrect... nothing would exist without it. The evidence is in front of your eyes... if you would only see.
You yourself state over and over again that magnesium, an alkaline mineral, and malic acid are required for ATP production - not the only things required by a long shot, but true enough - an acid and a base. ATP would not happen efficiently without either one... ATP production may limp along, metabolically compromised with a poor secondary substitute mineral or acid if need be as the body has some built in back up systems and redundancies.
So you Hv, in not so many words, speak of acid/base every single time you write this out - and many other of your posts, exist as examples of acid/base principles as well.
These several other examples in your posts... would lead one to think that you understand your own posts in these terms.... but perhaps not given your inability to understand acid/base.
I suspect that your level of knowledge would explode if you understood acid/base as it applies to herbs, supplement recommendations, and health.
You are holding yourself back by fighting and refusing to accept the "truth".
In a response to another post on being hyper-phosphate you wrote in part, "There is a long list of things that can lead to this. Renal failure, low parathyroid function, excess phosphate intake (red meats, dairy and colas are high), hemolysis, magnesium deficiency, excess vitamin D, certain medications........"
High Vitamin D, hyper-phosphate - acids... you state low magnesium, an alkaline mineral, however it could be one or several other alkaline mineral deficiencies as well... you also mention hemolysis which has been associated with various acidic compounds/conditions...
You also mention low parathyroid function which you must know compromises the signaling required to acquire alkaline minerals from the digestion of foods, herbs and supplements.
I could go on with the rest of your list, however, I think you must understand my point - I am making it simple enough for you to understand I hope.
You understand very well the need for specific acids for various functions, however these acids do not function well without their preferred alkaline minerals.
My guess is that your studies were not multidimensional... but were quite narrow in focus.
Given the various physical and chemical properties of various acids, they tend to have an affinity to one alkaline mineral or another.
opposites attract... and like repel. It is the way of things... always has been, always will be. Attractions can vary from very weak to very strong... this is why some things like lead can suffice in the body in place of calcium when calcium is found deficient.
So while your forum is labeled "The Truth in Medicine", and you do have a great deal of valuable knowledge, you do not seem to understand the whole "truth".
That is okay though... none of us do. We cannot understand and be experts in everything... I cannot hold a candle to you, or many others on these forums with herbal knowledge... assuming it is knowledge and not cut and pastes, paraphrasing or merely regurgitating what you have been taught.
Memorization of taught "facts" as we know them today (which tend to change, sometimes dramatically, as we learn more), while valuable is not anything without wisdom, common sense, or an open mind.
Putting the heads and knowledge together of many different disciplines, in this case your herbal knowledge, and acid/base balancing, could lead to synergistic growth and understanding...
I believe you to be severely holding yourself back from growth with your adamant denial of the acid/base principles... an irony... when you illustrate them over and over again in your own posts.
