For the last year or so, I've been dealing with light-colored stools due to elevated levels of bilirubin in my system. (3.4 and 0.5) For whatever reason, little to no bile was making it's way to my intestinal tract. Mostly it was backing up into my bloodstream causing me to have orangy / clay colored stools, along with some jaundice. I tried a lot of different foods over the months to see if I could get my stools back to a normal color, but nothing seemed to help. Well anyhow, yesterday and today that all changed!!
I remembered what one poster said about mint and how it helps to increase bile flow, so yesterday I decided to try it. I didn't have any access to raw peppermint or spearmint leaves, so I went to my local 7-11 and bought some Altoids mints (that probably sounds weird!), 'cause I know they're made with peppermint oil. I ate over half the box of mints. After about an two hours, I started feeling kind of sick from them. (You guys probably know how potent those things are) I was getting EXTREMELY powerful urges to go to the bathroom. (This was more intense than an enema) At first my stool color was red, because of the beets that I ate earlier that morning. About 15 minutes later, I got another bathroom attack and this time my stools were a dark brown. Then this morning I had to go to the bathroom AGAIN and there was lots of dark green in my stool!!! I think it worked. The green is definitely not from anything that I ate, because I didn't eat anything green yesterday or today.
