Water Fast is only as difficult to endure as the levels of toxemia allow, and also whether the fast is conducted correctly.
For anyone suffering from toxemia, and that would include by far the majority of people, then it can be a very trying ordeal; this can be minimized by conducting the fast correctly with as much rest as possible, and where this would mean physical, emotional and sensory rest, away from the turmoil, stress and strain of everyday life.
This is how Nature intended us to fast, and is reflected within Nature by animals that seek out the peace and quiet in a place of refuge and solitude to undergo one.
It is mostly true to say that energy levels will increase up to a point during the fast, but then strength and energy will gradually diminish after the middle and latter stages.
The "fasting-cure" or the "rest-cure" (as fasting was formerly described as), is meant to be just that..........a complete rest of body mind and soul: so complete rest will greatly minimize if not eliminate the symptoms you have described.
If you do carry on as "normal" and try to perform the same duties and tasks that you would while eating, and this would include the emotional involvement with horror movies and soap-operas, this would prove to be very enervating and draining of ones nerve energy or life-force and make the fast a much more unpleasant experience.
I agree that cravings never seem to go away: this was also my own experience, but then the voluntary abstention from food or nourishment is the unusual in Nature, as we are mostly designed to take external nourishment on a regular basis, and where fasting is a last resort only in the case of injury, illness, or disease.
You will also find that if and when your body is free from toxemia, and you undergo a complete rest away from the disturbances and turmoil of everyday living in tranquil surroundings, it can be a very pleasant and extremely rewarding, physical, spiritual, emotional/mental experience.
The conduct of your fast, and your living habits thereafter (not rebuilding toxemia), are paramount to its success.
Take care.
