I wanted to share something that just made my day today. I doubled over laughing and insulted my dear sweet husband all at the same time.
I've been researching and trying to get an order up of all the herbs I'll need to make all the tinctures I want, been looking at the Websites where Uny buys hers. I've been so excited about doing this and I've discussed it with my husband but I've only told him the bare bones of how to go about making the tinctures with Vodka.
Yesterday I told my husband that this week I was going to try my best to get the order together, got to order from different Websites because one Website doesn't have everything I need. I told him I'd have to go to a liquor store and buy some Vodka. I don't know anything about liquor and neither does my husband because we don't drink.
So, today my husband comes home from work and he's got this big grin on his face and is holding something behind his back. I ask him what he's got behind his back and he presents me with this.
I couldn't figure out why he would buy Vodka since we don't drink but then he told me he bought it for me to use when I get my herb order in so I would have it to make my tinctures. Well, let me tell you I cracked up! He wanted to know what was so funny and it took me awhile to stop laughing enough to tell him. In the meantime he is getting really insulted that his gift was met with such hilarity LOL when he was trying to make sure I had what I needed when I was ready. I had to smooth his ruffled feathers after I explained how funny it was that he bought a half pint of the most expensive Vodka he could find when what I needed was a gallon of the cheapest 100 proof Vodka that was made LOL.
It turns out that my son had to go to the liquor store today and buy some Jack Daniels, he deals in hard to get bottles that you can't find in other states, we live the next county over from the distillery so we have access to all of them. Anyway my husband and son were on the same job today, on the way back from lunch together they stopped at the liquor store and my husband asked my son to pick out the very best kind of Vodka they sold so he could surprise me with it.
The only liquor I know anything about is Chivas Regal from my party days years ago. This stuff he brought me was imported from France and is in a beautiful bottle. It says it was distilled from French wheat but its only 40% alcohol volume, whatever that means. I called my son and asked him if we have available here Everclear which I'm thinking is what Uny and Wings use and he says "oh mom, you don't want to use that stuff its 190 proof pure grain alcohol." So can someone please tell me if that means its 100 proof? We do have Everclear where I live.
So the moral of this story is never laugh at a gift your husband brings you because you're liable to ruffle his feathers big time! Once he got over it he also laughed when I explained the whole process and told him we'd have to buy it by the gallon!
I'd just like to say that I have the most thoughtful, wonderful husband that God put on this earth just for me, even though I sometimes ruffle his feathers he indulges me like no other husband I've ever heard about. I'm truly BLESSED!

Thanks Zoe.
I agree, it would be much easier for me to just buy the 100 proof than to have to dilute it so that's what I'll do.
Feathers are all unbunched LOL. Once he got over the initial shock of my laughing at his gift and understood why it was so funny, he laughed right along with me.

Thank you recovering, that answers my question.

Thanks 32771. Yes, I'll be buying the cheapest 100 Vodka I can find. I don't get up the Kentucky way too often but I'll keep it in my next time I do. I guess I would have to be careful because on the Nashville news they've had several stories about people buying cigarettes in Kentucky because you've got much less tax than we do, and bringing them back to TN, those people have been arrested and I'm sure it would be the same for liquor LOL.
I agree, the Jack Daniels tour is much better than a person would expect, well worth the time it takes, very interesting.
