Take it from me, you can probably easily
tell your mom the bet is off but you are
still going to focus on regaining your
health. Who knows, YOU may motivate her
to join YOU on your quest to fast~!

IMHO, fasting is not the best weight loss
plan. The weight does come back. What fasting
did for me was to redefine my relationship
with food. It forced me to look at the issues,
emotional, physical and spiritual that were
the reasons I was using food for comfort.
Once I addressed the underlying food issues,
and my body was convinced I was not starving,
I did not have any weight or food issues.

Fasting allowed my body to cleanse itself of
toxins. This was one of my major goals
since I had had health issues in the past
which I had worked on for so long that
a fast felt like the final leg of my
journey. I did 3 long fasts of 28-30 days,
one a year, and then quite a few shorter
10 day fasts in between. In a perfect
world, I would like to fast one day a
week, but my mind is not ready to commit
to that plan, yet. Still, at the end of
3 years, I realized I had arrived at the
state of "wellness" I had long hoped for.

In the beginning of my fasting experiences,
I knew I was too toxic to water fast. Now,
I find myself contemplating it since I am
really a water lover. One of the main things
I learned while fasting was that I had been
chronically dehydrated.

Fasting does give you a sense of control
and reaffirms the goal of saying YES to
yourself and the quality of your life for
years to come.

Like any journey, fasting is a journey
that begins with the first step. For me,
I was older than you, and so it was also
journey to discover who I had grown up to
be after being a mother, wife, business
person, etc. I wanted to be able to feel
great about myself. I do...ggg.

If you want to self-motivate, READ everything
about fasting here, in the archives, and online
to reinforce your resolve and to jumpstart your
enthusiasm again and again. It will be the mental
"food" you need to find yourself again~~
