Hi, I have been experiencing cronic UTIs since April. After 3 rounds of Antibiotics (at that time I didn't realize how bad they were for you!) my UTI finally cleared up. Unfortunately I woke up this morning w/ another infection. This time around I would like to stay away from going to the doctor and getting another prescription for Antibiotics .
I've done some reading and know that cranberry juice is supposed to be good for clearing up the UTI. Does anyone know how much to take, how long before the UTI clears up, etc? Also, since I had the 3 rounds of Antibiotics in April, is there something else I should be doing to add back the good bacteria?
Just as some background, I did my first master cleanse about a month ago (12 days) and currently I'm doing a parasite cleanse (Paragon). I'm not supposed to have any fruit juice but I decided to go ahead and have the cranberry juice today b/c of the UTI.
Oh, one final question (for now), I'm in a serious relationship -- should I have my boyfriend drink cranberry juice as well -- I read somewhere that couples could be passing the infecting bacteria back and forth.

This is a reply to # 14,345Try D-mannose. It is type of sugar. I didn't use it, but I was reading about it, and I must say I am realy impressed with it.

Yes. And as much as it 'kills the mood' - both should 'wash up' immediately prior. Also - both should urinate prior to and immediately after sex.

The beginning of my health problems was marked by an UTI/
I took the customary antbiotics and after that I never again felt healthy.
My got an cronic UTI caused by CANDIDA. When the bacteria was gone the candida took all over my body.
It was 14 years ago. Antibiotics produce Candida overgrowth.
Have you had a urine test done?
Is it just that you feel pain and the annoying pressure in your bladder?
Be aware that of that. Maybe you need to stop Antibiotics and begin the anticandida protocol.
Organic cranberry juice is excelent.

Hi Zule, thanks for your message. This time around I didn't bother w/ the urine test although I have had urine tests previously and they all showed I definately had an UTI. Anyway, I drank a lot of cranberry juice this time around and all the symptoms completely disappeared after about 3 days. I'm currently taking cranberry extract which I got at a health food store in hopes of keeping any future UTIs at bay.
quick question, what exactly is the nticandida protocol and also, how did you know you had candida? did you get tested for it?

Do not take Antibiotics without testing You ACTUALLY HAVE BACTERIAl Infection.
The symptoms for Candida overgrowth and UT are similar.
My experience:
So the fist time I had a UTI I took Antibiotics by prescription.
The second and following times, I took more Antibiotics , BUT the urine analysis showed HIGH yeast in my urine and not bacteria.
However the Doctor did not understand this. Instead stoping the Antibiotic he prescribed more, and I got worse.
Stop taking antibiotics without having an urine analysis.
Candida is a yeast produced by antibiotics. The syntpoms are the same, but the treatment is different.
NOw you need to drink cranberry juice, also Quit sugar,
Can you get a test for yeast?
Take probiotics:
If you have gotten yeast overgrowth, address that soon or it can become a nightmare.
Anticandida diet, antifungals, probiotics are needed if this is the case.

and also, this time around i did not take Antibiotics -- just the cranberry juice which seemed to work great.

This is a reply to # 14,345I'm really not trying to alarm you, but chronic UTI is really a severe problem and could be the result of another condition. I advise you strongly to see your doctor and inqure about a condition called "MRSA." If you do have MRSA it could be the reason for such frequent and sometimes extremely severe UTI's.

This is a reply to # 14,443Hi Joe, thanks for your reply. It turns out that I have not had another UTI since the 4 I had back in April/May. The last one was cured by drinking tons of cranberry juice at the first sign of an infection. If I get any future UTIs, I will definately take your advice about asking my doctor about MRSA.

I had the exact same thing with UTI's and I have been completely cured by using a product called CranActin by Solaray. I have treated active infections by taking 6-8 daily (one at a time spread throughout the day) for the first few days (you can tell by how you feel, when to drop the dosage down) gradually drop your dosage. When you are completely healed (and you will be with this product) take 2 daily, 1 in A.M. and 1 in P.M. you will never have another UTI again! I have not had one for 15 years and I was absolutely, costantly getting them prior to using this. Hope this helps :)
