Just read your post and joined to respond to your question about green phlegm in the morning. I had a problem for well over 10 years with having to clear the junk from my throat every morning. Other than that I had no problems with any allergy symptoms. The last year I noticed the stuff was greenish, but I felt fine, had plenty of energy, no pain, etc. so I didn't do anything about it.
My right nostril became plugged last year and after a few months I went to the doctor, got referred to an ENT and it turns out I have a serious infection in the maxillary sinus, which appears to be completely sealed and not draining. I was put on IV antiobiotics for 5 weeks, but it didn't kill the infection. It is one of those really tough bugs--pseudomonas aeruginosa. All the literature says only immunocompromised people get it, but I'm very healthy, except for the sinuses, so how did I end up with it?
I'll likely have surgery soon, since the
Antibiotics haven't handled it and it can get into the brain and other places. The ENT will go in and remove the bacteria(abcess). I have scoured the web trying to find something I can do to help my body heal itself, but have found nothing on anyone dealing with this bad bug--not even anyone trying to deal with it. Anyway, if my nose had not plugged up, I would still be trucking along, coughing up the green phlegm every morning and living life. Instead I have learned I likely have had this a long time and it could have become life-threatening any time and still may be.
So, I'll be passing along the lesson I learned--that if it's not 'normal' and lasts a long time(years), you need to get it checked out.
