Link Between
Antibiotics and Lung Cancer
Thursday September 11, 2008
Someday your health care provider may ask you how many
Antibiotics you have taken, along with your smoking history – to predict your risk of developing lung cancer.
A study looking at the medical records of over 3 million people in Finland, found a link between the use of
Antibiotics , and subsequent risk of cancer. Information about antibiotics prescribed according to the Drug Prescription Registry between 1995 and 1997, was compared with cancers reported to the Finnish Cancer Registry from 1998 to 2004. Those individuals who had been given 2 to 5
Antibiotic prescriptions were 25% more likely to have developed cancer, than those who had 0 to 1 prescriptions. The increased risk broken down for different cancers was:
* Lung cancer – 79%
* Prostate cancer – 39%
* Colon cancer – 15%
*
Breast Cancer – 14%

of course doctors would argue that these people were "sicker", than the others... I would argue the others did not go to doctors nearly as much... if at all.
Leading one to believe that doctors and their drug pushing is the problem.
There are other cancers that see increases in incidents with
Antibiotic use as well... and the incidence of thyroid cancer related to
Antibiotic use is also suspect.
Antibiotics shut down your (THE) communication interface with your environment.
As an aside, and to illustrate the insensitivity, arrogance, and how out of touch doctors are with reality... I mentioned all of the Vioxx deaths to one and he stated, and I quote, "they were sick and all going to die anyway".
Isn't that comforting :-\
We are all going to die... I just want the best quality of life and longevity I can muster... and my choices, including the staying away from modern disease/death serving medicine as much as possible, will make the difference.
Rather ironic as most of my family and friends are in the business, including pharmaceutical development and sales... perhaps that is why I can see it for what it is a bit clearer than most...
It is not what you think...
