Look, I am not by any means slandering overweight and obese people I've been there and done that way too many times in my life, thank God I'm over that now. But the fact remains that a lot of airlines are charging for more than 1 bag now due to the economy and weight restrictions per flight. I can understand their reasoning and it could have resulted due to complaints of people who have to share their paid for seat with someone who can't fit in one seat.
I have never been obese but I have been overweight but even being overweight I have always been able to sit in my one seat that I purchased without invading the space of the person seated next to me. I have never complained about my space being invaded by an obese person because I have empathy for that person but the fact remains it isn't pleasant to have be uncomfortable in a space you have paid for.
If I were ever in the position of being obese I would gladly pay for two seats if for no other reason than to save myself the embarrassment of spilling over into another persons space. So to conclude I can see both sides of the argument. There will always be discrimination in this world its sad but true, hopefully this ruling will prod those who have no medical reason for being obese to get healthy so maybe something good can come from it.

This is a very touchy subject with many different opinions. I agree with Donn, the first class seats are a good option, I hadn't thought of that. I meant absolutely no disrespect to anybody and yes its horrible to call someone a cow.

You all have missed the reason for charging heavier people more. It is just the relationship of weight to fuel consumption.
The airlines don't give a rats ass about your comfort. The planes with 5 half sized seats suitable for a group of elves in the middle of the cabin proves this point.
