Has anyone tried aggressive multi antifungal treatment? Particularly Nystatin, Diflucan & Amphotericin-B. I am interested in Dr. Cranton's approach.
I can see the logic in multi antifungals to avoid resistance issues and target both intestinal and systemic candida. Arguably, it is the only way to get at candida entrenched in the intestinal wall.
Any views/experiences for or against would be appreciated. I have read he has a 35% success rate. For most diseases that would be considered low, but as far as curing candida goes that is pretty good if it is accurate.

This is a reply to # 1,397,726In my experience a total immune system approach is more effective in the long run. This is how I was cured. Those antifungals will work powerfully in the beginning, and for a few, they might even cure. But they are very invasise and cannot be continued indefinitely. Once these drugs are stopped the overgrowth problems often will come back eventually, because the immune system has not been repaired. This is the key.

I agree no matter how successful the antifungal cocktail is, candida will very likely come back if probiotics and other measures are not taken to protect the bowels from being invaded again. Once weakened by candida, the body is forever susceptible.
In fact if I choose to undertake such an aggressive antifungal attack on my candida, I would want a long term yeast protection system in place before I start the antifungals. I would also want the candida numbers at a reduced level already, to minimise the load on my liver due to the inevitable die-off. The purpose of the AFs would be simply to kill off all hard to get hyphal growth anywhere it exists in my body. Hopefully good bacteria will recolonize the intestinal linings and the leaky gut will heal its holes.
I'm 6 weeks into Threelac now. I'm hoping it will improve my yeast situation somewhat. Then I'm looking at introducing biotin, indole-3-carbinol, zinc, kefir, Healthy Trinity, Parazyme and inulin. Then I may do the triple AF therapy to eradicate every last yeast cell in my body. Hopefully the above supplements will keep it from coming back.
The drug therapy is a bit scary though. It can be as quick as two months, but some people have to take it for over a year to be cured. Hope my liver can handle this amount of punishment. It's supposed to be safe, especially if liver tests are regularly taken. However I think if I prepare well for it, my chances of a quicker result, and a lasting cure are much stronger.

This is a reply to # 1,398,028You CANNOT eradicate yeast cells: they are present in everybody's gut, and it's perfectly normal: they are scavengers, they feed on intestinal dross, undigested food, etc.
Systemic candidiasis is when this yeast start taking the form of rhizomes (threads) that colonize and drill holes in the intestinal walls (leaky gut). Nobody knows exactly why this happens.

Are you sure? Perhaps a sustained aggressive multi antifungal attack can eradicate all the yeast cells in your body (at a certain point in time).

Maybe nobody knows EXACTLY why this happens, but candida is basically an aggressive opportunitic bug that will take over given the right opportunity and nutrients. The main defense the body has against candida is population of the intestinal lining with healthy bacteria. If these are absent, most commonly after Antibiotics , then candida moves in, especially if it is also provided with lots of its favorite nutrients such as sugar. Not that complicated a concept really. Very difficult to fix though.

Very likely. That doesn't mean you shouldn't attempt to eliminate the systemic candida if you can. Preventing it returning is another issue, and a critical one, but it doesn't negate the importance of killing off all existing invasive hyphal growth (if that is possible).Advertisement

I personally was thinking to trial that regime of triple therapy, i think if you are going to do that, be sure 100% you dont have any other infections,
I would have done it if i could handle die off, i know for sure these antifungals kill but i myself just couldnt handle it, infact the use of antifungals was my first choice,
If your going to do it, like you said, stick a really strict diet for 1 month before, increase ur probiotic intake,
in regards to liver , most of us have liver problems before we even take any drugs anyways, and these drugs arent that toxic to our livers, the companies have to report liver problems even if the problem occured in less than 1 % of ppl.
I prefer a natural imbalance back if possible, but i too have seen patients recover 100% after aggressive antifungal treatment, ppl in Australia have been using nilstat daily 4 times a day with high vitamin C and probiotics for 6 week courses and recovered totally.

It does look promising , reduce the fungii back to yeast state, build up your system and fight off all the underlying viruses and bacteria that maybe present, I found diflucan when i took antifungals caused less die off than nilstat as diflucan doesnt kill gut fungii immediatly like nisltat does, I would start nilstat really slow at first 1 capsule every 2 days at first and build up , seems your a long term sufferer i wouldnt be too aggressive , I went thru that agressive die off and ended up being sick for months.
I doubt the fungus becomes resistant that quickly, so a slow steady approach may work out better.
IMO i think candida is both opportunistic and a cause, i think most of us have EBV or CMV and a course of Antibiotics during that time allowed fungus to overtake and all the years we had no idea, candida grew and grew, thus bringing back the viruses and causing all kinds of immune system suppression, i think of all the candida treatments dr crantons looks the most logical and theres no "products" to sold by him so he seems really genuine

This is a reply to # 1,397,726I used Nystatin, Amphotericin-B and Sporonox together daily, for 3 months. In my opinion, I was cured of my Antibiotic induced candia overgrowth. This was several years ago. I discovered this treatment in my desperate search to be be "cured". I tried every natural treatment and diet available prior to this, with little or no effect. My only fungal issue at this time is nail fungus which pops up periodically, usually in summer. I use Absorbine horse linament to cure it.
I had a very stange canidida like reaction to Erythritol a few years ago. This is a sweetener which should be avoided by canadida sufferers. Read your lables! I do think the triple antifungal approach is the way to go if you can tolerate it. You need to have liver function teats while on these drugs.Advertisement

Congratulations on being "cured" of your candida overgrowth. That's encouraging to hear, and I'm thankful one less person is dealing with this disease. I have a few questions about your treatment, I hope you would answer.
While on the triple-therapy, did you make any dietary changes? There are so many diets out there with so many restrictions, it's hard to know which to follow. Also, did you experience any side-effects from either the medication or die-off? Did you take a probiotic during or after treatment, if so, which one and how much? Lastly, do you happen to remember any of the dosages of the medications you used?
I searched this thread after discovering some positive testimonials on this triple-therapy route. It makes sense to fight this infection in a multiple drug approach. Thank you, I truly value your experience, and I appreciate your time taken.
