About a month ago I did one of my bi or tri annual ten day cleanses, my basic maintenance since achieving my goal turning 50 with a clean pink colon three years ago (yaaaaaaaaay!). As some of you may remember, I did intensive cleansing for four years including very long
Master-Cleanse and juice fasting.
Well... I am constantly on the lookout for post-fast diet and exercise plans to enhance my health goals. During my last
Master-Cleanse I stumbled upon a program called Fast-5, went straight to it after my break and have been Fast-5ing ever since!
Post-fast I always slowly but surely regain weight lost during the cleanse, regardless of diet and exercise (I have long eaten pretty much a Zone type diet and hit the gym 5 days). This time is different! I have not only not regained weight, but have continued to lose excess weight at the rate of a good solid pound a week--amazing for me!
This is a kind of interval fasting program that allows you to eat pretty much anything during a 5 hour window, fasting the remaining 19 hours. I invite anyone interesed in continued weight loss after fasting to read up--it is a free download and the Little Book is jam packed with information by its author, an MD with a background in metabolic research. When I first started looking at it I thought, "Quack quack!" But after reading the book and doing the program for almost a month I am sold.
I love the clean, clear, light feeling of fasting. Fast-5 lets me experience this every day... then I get to eat! Dr. Herring tells us that of course some people go crazy and eat, say, doughnuts for five hours straight... but invariably the body asks for what's right and you settle down. I never had that problem, went straight back to my normal healthy eating, just within the 5 hour window.
But enough from me... if you are interested, search Fast-5, download the Little Book and read up!
My very best to all of you out there fasting and pursuing your health goals. If I can do it, you certainly can!
Muchos saludos,
