Raynbo
I recognize that there must have been a reason to put him on such a drug (there ususally is in all cases)...so she was "trying" to do somethng about the way he was aging....but to put a chimp on dangerous drugs that even humans (who supposedly have superior levels of self restraint and/or at least knowledge of human laws and the consequences of their behavior) have possible violent side effects from only made his souring disposition many times worse...
This happened shortly after he was given a dose, so the levels in his system were really high. Even humans can "snap" and go on killing rampages, but as a chimp, he had no way of understanding let alone controlling the exaggerated impusles he was feeling. I don't know how long he was taking this drug, but it was probably adding to the situation for quite some time before this happened.
The problem is not that she ignored the symptoms he was developing, for obviously she was trying to help him, the problem is that so many of us believe in these drugs and use them without questioning them or even looking into what the side effects are. Human or not.
....and because they believe in them, they don't even look for better ways. I have no idea what Travis needed, but for starters, he might have been completely calmed down simply by adding a few drops of
Iodine to his diet....
