Hi Everyone,
I would greatly appreciate any feed back on this issue.
My husband is the high strung type. He has been grinding his teeth for as long as he can remember, but in recent years, his jaw popping has become unbearable for the BOTH of us. His condition gets worse and worse. He works a computer all day, and clenches his wrist around his mouse for about 15 hours a day, in addition to the jaw grinding at night.
No one in the house hold can stand to eat dinner while he is at the table. We;ve tried music, noise, anything to cover up the horrendous noise of grinding screws in ones mouth. He attempted to get the problem fixed by going to a chiropractor, but after the fact, we found she was not versed in TMJ, and her tools actually made my husbands condition WORSE!
Now his jaw pops incessantly. While we kiss, while we are making love, its excruciating for the both of us. We;ve been married for 10 years, and for the first time in my life, I actually shy away from being near him, (cuddling, at the dinner table, even skip foreplay during sex) because I can not take the bone crushing sounds of his jaw popping. We no longer eat at dinner parties with our friends. The second he takes a bite of something, I see the dirty looks and stares of all the horrendous noise he is making. ITS SO FRIGGING LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!
So what do we do?
I've heard of TMJ exercises. We both do not trust surgery, or doctors, or dentists. We would like to go to a physical therapists, but no one really specializes in TMJ in our area.
