Before my first fast I ate mainly junk food and processed food, including red meat, cheese, bacon, with very little fruit and veggies.
After several fasts my fridge contains watermelon, pineapple, avocados, coconut, plums, apples, oranges, lemons, raw beetroot, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, Brussels sprouts, red chillies, dates, spinach, fresh ginger, eggs, skimmed milk, coffee, fresh yoghurt, bacon, fresh fish.
I buy organic when I can afford.
I think proper pre-fast eating is a major component of a successful fast.
