breaking the fast is not going to magically make everything okay. What I mean is, it's not a question of "this is bad" so it's the water fast, and suddenly eating will make it all better...if you see what I mean. By the same token, the
Water Fast won't 'cause' some sort of explosion. Your liver is not down there. Your pancreas is on the other side..."some sort of expansion" could be just the body doing its thing, clearing out blockages...remember, "this too shall pass". At five days, you are probably more emotionally wound up, just getting into the fast. The body's real 'fasting mode' doesn't actually kick in til the seventh day. Breathe deeply and slowly.
It would probably be good to rest. Lie down. Probably you ought to just rest awhile, and concentrate on something like breathing and the thought 'peace' or 'calm'.
after resting:
Do you know EFT? I appear to keep asking people this, on this forum, mainly because it seems as though the pains that come up are all strongly related to fear or some past emotion. EFT is very good for dissolving the emotional charge in any situation, leaving you with -usually- a very quick diminishment or complete dissolving of any actual pains. I speak from experience. when you feel up to it, you might scan the list of my posts for my EFT posts, for links, or just google youtube EFT, and scroll to a video that catches your eye. It's pretty quick to learn, and involves tapping on meridian points (that connect to all bodily systems like the liver/gallbadder, etc. etc) and saying a few choice words. :-)
When I feel concerned about pain I always have a bath--usually the immersion in water for awhile relieves most things.(or points out the strong emotional component)
I really urge people who are approaching doing a
Water Fast to make friends with EFT. It'll serve you very well...got me through some odd anxiety feelings on my second night--which otherwise would have driven me to break the fast--for no logical reason, except some old program was probably saying "you'll 'die". Don't listen to that voice. Treat it like a passerby, and maintain that little fence around 'you'.
have faith.
rest and
write later.
EDIT:
did you read up on the fasting masters before beginning this?
Most people don't, it seems, and then are very thrown by each new development. In fasting, you are inordinately focussed on every bodily twinge, because the curtain (or padding)of food has been stripped away. If fasting unsupervised it's very important to read and aquaint yourself with the stages of the fast, and the various things that come up. The reason is, it's only through this study that you establish in your being a knowledge that "this too shall pass". It's critical to have this overarching sense of the calm watcher. The emotonal body (all the old stuff) will try to convince you that the comfort of food (that is, breaking the fast) is the only solution to any discomfort. If this was all smooth sailing, everyone would do it.
But rest assured, you'll be so much stronger, after getting through these transient
discomforts.
Hers' a good post Bling just made, with links to good reading, that I think should be required:
