Hi WIEL,
Your question: Hi
Several sites claims that uric acid crystal buildups can be dissolved by citric acid and therefore recommend to drink the juice of lime or lemon with water as a way to cure gout. I am not a biochemist but I don't see how an acid can dissolve another acid. I understand that lemon can be alkalizing and that lemon are used to cleanse the liver, two things that can help in gout. But not the direct dissolution of the acid crystals.
Any thought on that subject Mr Moreless.
Thanks
Answer: Uric Acid Crystals may have some Alkaline Minerals bound in the crystals, thus the Reason for the Acid not being Liquid any more !
Thus when enough Acids come in contact with the Alkaline Minerals bound in the crystal, "WHY" would it seem odd for the crystals to not Disolve again into a Liquid?
The problem with Uric Acid in the body, may be that when the bodys Liver and Kidneys do not have enough Magnesium, they cannot properly remove the Uric Acid(Nitrogen) !
And this can be more of a problem when one is also too short of needed Calcium, which would help Neutralize these Excess Acids in the Lymphatic Fluids !
Cause and Effect !
Edit: This is one of the Reasons for taking a small pinch of Epsom Salt in water with each meal, to provide the Liver and Kidneys Magnesium and Sulfate to help regulate the Excess Free Nitrogen in the body !
An added note: If one had Gout problems and took Citric Acid to try to Disolve Uric Acid Crystals, this may just make the problem Worse by adding to too many Acids already !
Smile Tis your choice.
